From the beginning we were asked (not in a very polite way) to write our name in the waiting list and wait for calling us outside. When we took our place at the table we asked for how long we might wait for our order, the answer was in an extremely rude manner: "if you don`t have time you may go and find another place". Later the waiter explained that he has 4 tables (there are 6-7 tables in the cafe and 3 waiters!) and the kitchen is working hard. But the main thing was food: my wife had beef, it was hard to chew, barely warm, and badly cooked. And I wanted to taste traditional octopus, it was soooo salty that you could barely taste the octopus, only salt. Plus the average price of this dish in this district is about 18-20 euro, here it was 25 euro and unfortunately not well cooked. The waiter tried to offer to redo the octopus , but it was about 22 p.m. and we were waiting for our order for 30 minutes, so we decided not to wait for a new one. The place left negative fillings after all, bad service, not well done meals. Highly not recommended!

We waited two days for this spot. First day we got there 20 minutes after opening and it was packed. Told us there’s a 1 hr wait. Second day we got there 10 minutes early and got a spot after waiting 20 minutes for them to finish prepping. They only had 6-8 tables so it was a small staff and a small room, however it was a powerful staff and lovely environment. The food was well worth the wait, especially if you’re living in the area or passing by (not too close to the major tourist spots). Grilled prawns were fresh, all the pork dishes (Bifana and Alheira) were really tasty and heartwarming. The bean and pork stew with rice was extremely underrated, simple yet soulful after a long day of walking. The grilled peppers and pan seared mushrooms were nice vegetable additions as well. Sipping on their sangria was an excellent addition to each bite of the dinner.

🇺🇸We spied this place a number of times always a long line! But the pictures and descriptions had us hooked! So the wife said she would stand in line and text me when she thought we would be next. She still stood out about 45 minutes and I about 10; but like on Queue all the tables seemed to empty out in minutes after we were seated. One waiter the rest cooking n pouring serving etc. a tiny place maybe 5 tables. The sangria was the best l've ever had, cinnamon, mint and little quince berry's were the difference. Kind of like Grog in Northern Europe aka mulled wine, but light and refreshing ice cold. All that fruit in the glass was my dessert! The octopus was tender perfectly cooked. I have been craving vegetables, not something typical in Portugal apparently, and it was bang on, grilled broccoli, peppers, carrots, asparagus and of course ever or potatoes. I could tell you the secret to not have to wait in line long but l'll wait to see if it works then update this revie. Meanwhile do stand in line, do wait! It's absolutely worth it! O polvo estava tenro e perfeitamente cozinhado.

I’ve actually never given a google review before but I’m feeling compelled to after this rough experience. The waiter and cook both had an attitude from the get go. Just me simply asking how long our wait would be after putting my name on the list somehow warranted an attitude from them. My sister asked a couple simple questions about the menu and the waiter laughed and rolled his eyes at her in a very condescending way. I understand if you are tired but treating other humans in that way isn’t necessary. We ordered and tried to move on from the rude service but it just got worse. My mom got the more expensive cod dish, which we waited 40 min for. It had an insane amount of bones in it and tasted very bland. My picanha steak was super tough, I could barely chew it enough to swallow. My sister liked her dish. My mom spoke up about the cod (her first time ever saying anything about a dish at a restaurant, I was proud of her) and the cook was rude to her about it but took it back. She ordered the prawns instead which were good. But they still charged us for the cod. I asked if they could take it off the bill and the waiter said “You should have asked me if it had bones!” in a very condescending tone. I told him he wasn’t very ask-able and that he hadn’t been very friendly as our waiter. He again rolled his eyes and scoffed. We just wanted to leave so we paid the full price. But it was 100% not worth the price for the poor quality dishes we got and even worse service.

Edit for owner’s response: we were at the restaurant on Saturday, June 29, from about 7:45-9:30. I posted this review right after we left...

We visited on a Wednesday in late August at around 20:00 hrs. At that time the place was already kind of full, as we got the second to last table. The restaurant was full, but not loud in any way, it was actually very cosy and relaxed. Most of the customers were tourists but everyone was very friendly and polite. In sum, the atmosphere was very good. The food was even better. We (me and my partner) ordered the cheese and meat platter for 20 euros. This was really good and actually enough for a whole meal for two people. But since we had walked a lot during the day and were a bit hungry we ordered the cod and the peppers. Those were really good too, and I would definitely recommend them. We ordered two pitchers of sangria and a bottle of water and our check came out to around 63 euros. The service was very good, our waitress spoke both Portugese and English and was very kind. Overall, this is a really great place and i would definitely recommend it to others.

P.S. I went to the toilet but for the men there was only a urinal and no toilet. Additionally the toilets were only accessible by stairs. So either if you need to do a nr. 2 or are a wheelchair user I would second guess going here, but since for me these were not of the biggest concern i would still recommend this place to anyone who is into good food, a nice atmosphere, and...

Arrived at this restraint with high hopes. How they were crushed. we walked in a young british couple and asked for a table we were immediately turned away with rude looks from oen staff member. However the door states that you can join a waiting list which i then asked about and they hesitantly told me about it. I was the first person to write my name on said waiting list and the sign said you will be seated in order of arrival from the list. The waiter specifically told us to go away and come back in 25 minutes. So we did exactly that. We went back and waiting another 20 minutes outside. A crowd had now gathered. Waiter then finally came out and called a group who’s name was further down the list. When I asked why as we were at the top he said because a family with a baby had priority over us and then as we had left and come back our name being at the top of the waiting list was irrelevant. The waiter had literally TOLD US TO GO AWAY FOR 25 minutes. on top of this the was I was spoken to was rude and disrespectful. I am shocked by this and thoroughly disappointed. Do not put signs up claiming to be fair and have a wait list when this is...
