Baía do Sado — Restaurant in Setúbal

Belated posting, but on passing this establishment this evening bought back bad memories.

This was the first Christmas (December 26, 2015) I spent with my Portuguese girlfriends family and I was shocked at such an experience that someone would have experienced in apartheid South Africa. My partner's father (Mozambique heritage) popped outside and came back in and stood by the table. The female owner/manager came over and asked him not to beg in this establishment.

This is not the the experience you'd expect to encounter in a modern European tourist area. Not to say the father's home town.

Well the food was really good actually, as I expected. But the service was horrible, and when I say horrible I mean it! The waiters are not even polite, they made us wait a lot of time while they were passing by. And don't tell me that I'm not being comprehensive with them, cuz I've already worked as a waitress. Seeing them make wait 40 minutes between main dish and deserts just because they want. For really I'm really sorry for this restaurant, they could be a great place to go but I won't come back there for sure. Food was good not a lot to say, most of the staff was also top notch, but the first impression was bittersweet as one of the staff members was very rude to us & didn’t let us sit down outside with more than half of the space free & tbh there was only about 4/5 tables to be served in the entire restaurant, so it was basically empty that day.
