Horrible experience ....

  1. BAD - Got the feeling they were not really interested in our patronage ... perhaps because we were foreigners?

  2. WORSE - we were charged almost €20 (see pic attached- cheese, croquetes, pasteis, and couvert) in appetizers + couvert we did not ask for it, and this was not explained properly to us - they just brought it to the table and "kinda" left it there ...

  3. WORST - after we were seat they told us two of the dishes we were interested were sold out - this was after bringing the "chargeable appetizers".... we then chose another one they suggested "white veal" ... after waiting for 25 minutes, they came back and told us "sorry, we are also sold out" .... to this we just said we did not want to order anything else. We finished my wife ordered dish and left asap.

Cunning and really unpleasant experience.

This restaurant always seemed to be doing a good trade each time we passed so we gave it a go. The staff were very polite and attentive and spoke good English. There was quite a mix of nationalities dining at the same time.

We ordered wine by the glass, recommended by the waiter and were not disappointed. The wine list is quite extensive, so i guess they can match a wine to your tastes.

To eat, we had vegetable tempura, cuttlefish and shrimps in garlic. The tempura turned out to be just green beans, which was a bit disappointing, though they were good. The cuttlefish (Setúbal style) was OK. The shrimps (probably prawns, judging by their size) were teriffic and full of flavour. I'd highly recommend those.

Our visit was in February, but we were able to comfortably sit outside under their effective heaters. A good spot for a bite to eat or...

We arrived for our reservation and stood there as waiters passed us without saying anything. We had to search someone inside to get seated. We then waited 30 minutes to have our drink order taken. Meanwhile, many others that came after us were already served with drinks and appetizers. Very disappointing feeling when you see others receiving better service (or even service at all) than you. After 45 minutes a waiter came who seemed like he wanted to be anywhere but there. The appetizers and sides came together with our drinks. While eating the first course, the main course came. Not only was one meal incorrect but most of the meals were just extremely salty. Overall horrible service (I’m not sure if they wanted us there) and mediocre food. The two stars they earn with their lemon cake and the white wine sangria which were delicious. Go...

We spent 4 days in Setubal and went to Sem Horas for lunch one day. The atmosphere and the looks of the place from outside is very inviting. The staff were friendly and patiently explained the specials of the day. They brought a tray with bread, a small bowl of olives, two types of cheese, and a small bowl of olive oil. We chose the bread, olive, and olive oil (€6.80). We subsequently asked for more olive oil and was charged €3. We ordered two of the special veal sandwiches with bbq sauce (€9.50@) and a small salad (€2.50). The sandwiches came with French fries. Everything tasted great and we were happy with our meal. The only thing that was unusual, they asked if we wanted water, and we said yes. They brought a small jar of tap water and charged us €2.50 fit it?!?

Whimsical ambiance, friendly service, and good food! Sem Horas is a winner! We’ve been meaning to try this spot since we came to Setúbal a week ago, and we finally stopped by for dinner tonight. The atmosphere is incredibly magical and delightful. I loved the tapestry canopy, mismatched glasses, low lighting, and table decorations. The ambiance is the best part of the experience in my opinion. The service was attentive and efficient too. The food was solid and beautifully presented. I especially loved the chocolate pie and veggie board! The garlic shrimp and ceviche were tasty, but they tasted a little fishy to me, which makes me think the fish wasn’t the absolute freshest. Maybe I’m wrong? Overall, a wonderful experience! I’m very happy we dined here while in Setúbal.
