Made a dinner reservation for 3 - 700pm before the dinner rush and seated immediately inside in a nice corner.
We started with three glasses of Moscatel, or Portuguese fortified wine made from muscat grapes….really tasty. Reminded me of a mix of brandy and muscat. Sweet but not too sweet.
We definitely overdid the appetizers: bread + couvert (seasoned butter, tuna pate, olive tapenade) - EXCELLENT, especially the tuna pate A la guilho (shrimp flamed in whiskey) - very tasty! Beef tartare (a big portion size, I would have liked the tartare ground into smaller pieces) “Enchanted Forest” - mushrooms served on a bed of potato straws with an egg (with runny yolk) on top. Pretty good!
Entrees the server recommended New York strip, so we ordered 2, one medium rare and one medium well, both were flavorful with salt and sauce accompaniment Cod fish was the third entree and it was very fresh, well prepared, very enjoyable.
Dessert Traditional Algarve dessert (cake of almond, fig, and carob) - with the texture of a pecan pie, dense, not too sweet but very good balance of flavor and texture, would recommend trying Crème brûlée - I might skip this - the brûlée was not consistent - probably because the dish was not deep enough and it was sloped so some of the brûlée cooked to a different texture.

From the moment we stepped inside, the service was nothing short of extraordinary. The waitstaff greeted us with warm smiles and a genuine eagerness to ensure our dining experience would be memorable.
Oh, the food! We savoured the flavours of the region by indulging in a bottle of their recommended red wine, which proved to be a divine pairing for our meal.
The menu offered great options, and we opted for starters, grilled cod, and wild boar. Each dish was a masterpiece, showcasing the finest ingredients. The flavours were really well balanced!
The desserts deserve a special mention. The local fig and carrot cake, along with the pavlova-styled house desserts, were simply outstanding. The combination of flavours, textures, and presentation was exceptional.
