Shocking service!!! We are a group of 7 who ate here last night (01-09-25). We were welcomed in by a man who said "excellent food, excellent service, welcome, welcome" he rearranged tables & chairs for us & we thought, great đ. That was the nicest thing that happened. It took them a full 15 minutes to come & take our order, we weren't offered a drink whilst deciding & when he eventually came he was in a mad rush, very impatient & rude. We had to keep correcting him as reading our order back, he'd got it wrong. He kept tutting & shrugging his shoulders. Our food arrived after 40 minutes & not asking who's was who's just plonked on the table. We had to pass the plates around to realise we were a meal short. Told 3 separate members of staff & still no food. Seemed like no-one could be bothered. My family started eating as to not let their food go cold & I waited & waited & waited........my family were just finishing up when my food finally arrived (1 hour) Nothing worse than eating a meal on your own. Beautiful food, diabolical service Would NOT recommend due to the...
Read moreTasty food but the experience left a sour taste. Firstly they were pushy about trying to get you to buy extras - olives, bread, bottled water (at âŹ5!). I had the tuna steak and it was tasty, but that was the only positive part of our experience. There were 11 of us, and most of us left disappointed. The photos look impressive but you feel they're cutting corners - everyone that orders a fish dish gets the same generic steamed veg. Someone said it was like school dinners! The worst part was that we went for the âŹ40 sangria that was supposed to be 3 litres. We managed about 150ml per person so it was more like 1.5 litres. Most of the jug was ice. We actually questioned the staff multiple times on it, but they insisted "no that's the way it is". This was their opportunity to show they cared. Clearly they did not. Please avoid and maybe they will learn. Go to the burger place next door instead! Went there the night before and had...
Read moreMy husband Patrick and I had the pleasure of meeting the owner of the Clipper, Manuel, outside his restaurant one morning. It was his friendly demeanour that convinced us to come back the next evening for an excellent dinner. From appetizer to dessert, all was beautifully prepared and first rate. Just a side note: I had the mackerel and didnât realize at the time of ordering, that I was getting 2 fish with head, tail and bones. So I proceeded to cut and debone them ( A lot of bones! A lot of work.) Then I saw someone ask the waiter to do their deboning ( it was expertly done of course!) So note that, if you get the mackerel, âwhich was delicious anyway.
The meal lasted a couple of hours, as we did it the European way, eating and drinking slowly. It was relaxing and wonderful! We highly recommend The Clipper if youâre in no rush and enjoy a full complement of courses. Bravo, Manuelâ no wonder you have been in business for...
