O Gato Lambareiro — Restaurant in Silves

We visited this ice cream café on a hot summer afternoon, looking forward to enjoying what should be their main specialty. Despite the posted opening hours (9:00 AM to midnight) and it being peak season, we were told around 4:30 PM that the ice cream was already being put away and therefore not available.

This was only communicated to us after we had placed an order for seven people. Before that, we had to ask twice just to receive additional menus, as only one was provided for the group. The service felt slow and inattentive, and learning that no ice cream would be served on a 35°C day in peak season left us with no choice but to leave.

From the lack of service to the absence of ice cream in an ice cream café, our experience was deeply disappointing. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend visiting this...

Worst service. We sat down, nothing. I grabbed my own menu at the front. Sat back down, about 5 minutes later a staff member came but we were not ready. He then completely left and was no where to be seen. A good 10 minutes goes by and this other lady is taking orders for all the tables around us that came way after us. Nothing for us. I walked to the front and asked if we can place an order. (There was 5 staff members just standing there) We order about three croissants and a few drinks. After we placed she order and the drinks come they then inform us that there are no croissants. Why would I possibly still want all the drinks if all the food we ordered is unavailable. Very poor communication. If you are out of croissants then we should have been told when we ordered them.

I was craving a crepe and this place delivered. The crepe was huge and it had a lot of ingredients.

The only thing I did not like was that each ingredient of the crepe was sold separately and a ball of ice cream is like 2 euros. I think the price is a lot for what it is.

But the crepe was really good so I guess it was worth it that day and since I was on vacation I let it slide. Luckily I can find much better with more ingredients and for cheaper where I live.
