I'll start with the food and drink. I ordered lamb chops with mint sauce, and fresh orange juice for my drink. Both were very delicious, but I feel the orange juice pricing was a bit steep, being priced at around €8. Sadly I was there during a very busy period, so I cannot exactly say the staff was friendly like the other reviews did. They did their job as quickly as they could and that was mostly it. I can understand that since it was busy. However, I feel the seating could've been better. It felt quite cramped and both customers and staff kept waking/running around our table. Update: came here again the next day due to my dad. It was less busy this time, and we also had the best seats. The first waiter we had wasn't really charismatic and didn't really seem to want to be there. However, we then got a new waiter later who was much more friendly. We also had many exchanges with the owner of the establishment, and she was extremely nice. She even let my mom buy some oil from them, that they were serving at the restaurant. For dinner I had Tournedos with Bernaise Sauce, and it was excellent! We also had cake desserts which were also quite delicious. 👌

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Rocha da Palha and it was nothing short of perfection. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel warmly welcomed, treating us with genuine care and attention. They were attentive without being intrusive, knowledgeable about the menu, and ready with great recommendations. The food was absolutely incredible – each dish was beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. You can tell that a lot of thought goes into every ingredient, and it showed. From appetizers to dessert, everything was flawless. The chef’s attention to detail is remarkable; the ingredients were fresh, and the flavors were well-balanced. And then there's the view! Dining with a breathtaking view made the experience unforgettable. Whether you’re there at sunset or with the city lights sparkling at night, it feels magical. The ambiance was perfect for both an intimate dinner and a celebratory night out. Rocha da Palha is a true gem. If you're looking for a place that combines amazing food, impeccable service, and a stunning view, this is it. Highly recommended!

If you are going to dinner without reservations expect an approximate wait time of 40 minutes. We were lucky because we ordered a drink and sat in the patio while we waited. We were seated in less than 15 min. My piña colada was a little runny. I usually like it well blended but the taste was good. We started with olives, bread and carrots. We also ordered 2 tapas: fish soup and octopus salad which were both great options. They were bigger portions then we expected. We also ordered the acorda do marisco to share and it was way more than enough for two people. The acorda was delicious mixture of creamy bread like Gushy goodness and different type of seafood. We finished with a shared whisky cake dessert. The dessert was our least favorite. It looked like a frozen icecream and we expected cake :(

Update October 2022! I have been coming here for many years, because of the good cuisine, very friendly staff and the great location. My visit will most likely have been my last one, since I hardly received a drink at the bar while waiting for the kitchen to open. When it finally opened, the waiter told other people to come in, but me. Then he asked me to pay for the drink before I ordered the meal! Never in all my travels around the world had I experienced this. I received the starters which were not as good as they used to be and the fish which was also disappointing. Before, this was the best preparation I ever had of that dish. The mojito is still very good! But this will not be enough for me to come all the way by taxi to Amarcao de Pêra. After Covid19, I thought, the gastronomy should be happy about every customer and treat them well. Maybe worth a discussion within the management? —----------------------------- This is a former review which does not reality anymore.

One of my favorite places in the Algarve. The food is delicious, the staff is very friendly, the mojito very good and the view is unbeatable! We will...
