One of the best surprises when visiting Sintra/Colares area in October last year after being dissapointed by so many things in Colares. Even when I arrived just a few moments before they closed, I explained that they were on my list of places to visit and extremely nice waitress explained to me in English what was in which pastry, took my order and promptly I received some of the best pastries I had during my vacations with very nice cold coffee which they made to order. The place itself is very cute, clean, obviously loved by locals. I took some of the pastries with me and enjoyed them the next day. It would be my dream to visit again one day and stay for a few hours. Also have to point out that the toilets were very nice and clean (sorry for making them dirty with my shoes after the floor was wiped :() It is also very nice to just walk around later, nice surroundings with green areas there. Bus stop close by. I cannot believe this place is not yet on Tripadvisor...I might try to start it there. All the best to the pastelaria staff, take care guys. Eva from...

And any half-decent server would know to check twice rather than deliver such a bizarre meal to a customer.
If this is typical service here, we...
Read moreWe found ourselves in a surreal situation: a neglected place (including toilets with no water coming out of the taps), practically empty with a hostess/cook who treated us like we were stupid tourists. In addition to this, the other bad surprise was the dishes we ordered: the francesinha was drowning ina sauce that looked a soup, 5 slices of pata negra, and a glass of white wine that was unqualified and looked like a lemonsoda. All this at exorbitant prices never seen before in 15 days of staying in this...
