Disapointing. I usually do some research on restaurants and I had high hopes on this place. When we sat down a lad appeared and dropped off the full couvert without a word, then ran off! Bread, olives, sardine pates, butter and the little round cheese, none of it asked for, all of it charged for. I was slightly surprised, I thought this was only done in the rip-off restaurants? If they did this to make a few extra Euros it backfired, because we didn't order entree's having all this unasked for stuff to eat! My girlfriend had piri piri chicken, not too bad but a lot of bones. My mixed fish grill had 3 small pieces of fish, 3 small boiled potatoes, and a carrot halved. It was ok, kinda average. On the plus side the vinho verde was quite good and cheap and we got a small free port at end. Overall though, not impressed, disappointed,...

Tavira - Dean and I sat outside in the “walk through”. The ambience was delightful. The weather here has been paradise for the last month and a half. Dean had the Pepper Steak Fillet (medium rare) which was good and was accompanied by French fries and a salad. I haven’t seen many choices of steak cuts while here. This said fillet but it had to be the sirloin cut, when I read fillet, I believe it to be fillet mignon. I had Octopus in olive oil and when I added just a dash of salt it was delish. Cooked just right. This came with baked potatoes (small). The porto wine was very good and not too sweet. A “try" was served (complimentary) with the chocolate mousse that...

There are so many places to eat in season in Tavira, it can be difficult to choose! We chose wisely here. Courteous and positive staff able to make menu suggestions in English French and German (from what we heard). Indoor and outdoor seating. Reasonably priced Portugese cuisine, steak and cod fish around €15. Pleasant wine, smooth coffee. Can't account for deserts as we were too full to try. First time trying the local cod fish. Moist and very meaty. My companions both had steak and really enjoyed them. As I say we were all stuffed. Starter of olives, three mains, litre of water, two glasses of wine and coffees came to €52, which I found very reasonable for such a...

We had sardines and a "arroz de pescado" for 2 people (40 Euro) and a bottle of water. Waiters not over the top smiley aka not trying to lure tourists in but normal and kind. We went here after reading good reviews. The sardines were amazing, fresh and well seasoned. The arroz was a ricestew/soup with fish. It was a very abundant portion and we couldn't finish it all. But we could bring the leftovers with us! Top three meal of our (long) trip through Portugal. -flavourful, well seasoned, lots of fish in the stew.

The food was ok although nothing special but the troublesome part is the methods they use to make more money -- especially with tourists -- by putting bread and olives and butter on the table: you think they're free but you have to pay for each of them by person; for example two little baskets of bread were more than €7 in total. Very excessive and sneaky.
