We ordered bruschetas, the Prawn Curry and a Padthai. Bruschetas were a good portion, but we're in fact the Spanish "Pan com Tomate" and not the Italian Bruschetas one knows. The main plates were beautiful but very small and were not at all the correct recipes. Padthai did not appear as a real Padthai at all, it did not have anything besides noodles, soy souce and mushrooms (which are not part of the original recipe), it lacked the correct sweet and sour flavour as well as the characteristic nuts and the eggs. Also the noodles did not appear to be rice noodles. The curry was very small, made up of overcooked potatoes (unexpected, as an Indian curry does not have potatoes, but a Persian one might have so...) and a few chopped peppers and 4 little shrimps, all in a sauce that did not resemble a curry at all (neither on the flavour or the spiciness) but rather a "Portuguese Caldeirada" fish dish. As other guests reported, the plates came in out of the expected order an order and at the wrong timings. Also it is worth mentioning that several of the options on the menu were unavailable. The waitress was very nice, which scores the 2 stars. It is a nice place, with a good atmosphere; maybe good to have a couple of drinks, but honestly I will not return as I feel it was not good...
Read moreA truly excellent experience.
The food is claimed to be local, and whether it really is or not, it tastes great. The menu is small, but seems to be temporary by nature. We had the fish and pork burgers and dried tuna slices.
We spotted the dried tuna in the local market, but tried it here. It tasted great combined with the oil and bread.
The fish burger was a perfect combination of ingredients. The patty itself was much more interesting than a white fish burger, but also not too overpowering. The pork burger was different. The patty alone had an amazing flavour, but the mix of ingredients was less stunning that the fish burger. Maybe the pork was just too good. The bread is lovely and the entire thing can actually be eaten like a burger, instead of falling apart.
Service is great. We laughed a lot and got explanations about our food, without it feeling pretentious.
Seating on the roof is fun and cozy. There is a toilet. Payments are only in cash, but this is displayed on entrance. We did not reserve.
Plenty of interesting drinks as well, local specialty beers and lemonades...
Read moreSuperb small-but-perfectly-formed selection of excellent tapas dishes in an unassuming, friendly rooftop bar with laid-back vibes. We had three lovely dishes and enjoyed them so much we ordered more so we could try most of the others, and they were all delicious, fresh and interesting dishes. As a vegetarian I felt a bit spoilt for choice and the dishes did not disappoint at all. We also sampled the house wine, a wine of the day and one of the local beers, all superb (I'm running out of superlatives). We loved all the food but highlights included the duo of desserts (especially the fresh lemon tart) and the goat's cheese with fig carpaccio. The staff (the owners) were friendly, attentive, knowledgeable and charming. The food and drink were both exceptionally good value. No photos of the food from us because we were too busy eating it all! We hope we can visit again before we...
