AL.FAMA Restaurante — Restaurant in Vila Real de Santo António

Yesterday we visited this restaurant for Fado evening. I have been to some restaurants in Lisbon for Fado concerts and I was expecting that it’s gonna be a good experience. Unfortunately it wasn’t. It was announced that at 8 pm will start. Yes they started at 8pm with guitars but then was a long break for about 40 min. Then it was only 2 songs and a long break again. The sound was very bad. It was super noisy at the restaurant and almost we didn’t hear anything. The service at the restaurant is horrible. We were waiting for wine and olives for 20 min. Good food, professional service, very comfortable and traditional setting, and we had entertainment on top of all that! We went on a night where they featured Fado during dinner, and it was delightful. It was a packed house but the servers and the kitchen worked extra hard to keep everyone served and happy! My roasted lobster was perfectly cooked on top of a stack of sweet potato slices with spinach. Leider hat uns das Essen nur teilweise überzeugt. Als Vorspeise hatten wir die Vegetable Soup, diese war wirklich sehr lecker (sie war mit frischem Koriander, welchen ich nicht mag aber ich konnte ihn gut meiden). Zur Hauptspeise hatten wir einen Goat Cheese Salad und einen Fish with Mango Curry Sauce. Der Ziegenkäse Salat war sehr lecker, jedoch stellenweise mit sehr großen Stücken, das geht besser. Der Fisch hat mich geschmacklich nicht abgeholt, das lag aber an der Sorte, nicht am Restaurant. Die Mango Curry Sauce war allerdings sehr scharf und hätte für meinen Geschmack etwas mehr nach süßer Mango schmecken dürfen.

Meine Begleitung hatte einen Ingwertee und ich einen Alkoholfreien Mojito. Leider war der Ingwer nicht klein geschnitten, sodass die ätherischen Öle kaum in das heiße Wasser gelangen konnten. Wir haben das dann selbst mit einem Messer erledigt. Mein alkoholfreier Mojito war lecker, vielleicht ein klein wenig zu süß aber durchaus erfrischend. Leider gab es keine Milchalternative wie Hafer, Soja oder Mandel. Daher gab's diesmal auch keinen Kaffee.

Der Service war sehr freundlich und wirkte auch sonst professionell. Das Ambiente ist wirklich sehr schön. Insgesamt würde ich dem Besuch aber nur 3,5 Sterne geben. Weil Weihnachten ist und der Service wirklich nett war runden wir...
