Estrela do Mar II — Restaurant in Vila do Bispo

Almost at the end of my second week in Portugal, I think I’ve realized something: the chicken here usually isn’t marinated with piri-piri, it’s just served with the sauce on the side when you ask for it. In this place, they handed me a bottle of sauce you can also find at the supermarket, which wasn’t exactly what I was hoping for from a good local restaurant.

I ordered the piri-piri chicken anyway, which seemed to be marinated simply with lemon, salt, and probably some olive oil. It came with salad and fries, but unfortunately, the chicken had been taken off the grill a little too early, some pieces were still slightly raw. That’s why I lowered my rating to 3 stars.

We went two times to this restaurant and had a very different experience. The first night we had a mixed fish cataplana which was huge with a very good amount of fish and so tasty! The service was nice and chatty and we had a really good time. The night after, we tried the seafood rice, which was also huge but mostly rice and a huge crab with no meat inside. Taste was ok, but we definitely didn't enjoy it as much as the night before. Overall, good restaurant with very low prices! Would definitely recommend it for...

Me costo mucho hacer esta reseña. Mas que reseña es una crítica constructiva. El olor a comida casera nos hizo entrar a este sitio tan bonito en Sagres… allí se encontraba un señor muy amable, Antonio. La camarera llevaba una marcha más que Antonio pero olvidadiza… y eso entorpecía su trabajo, como hostelera se que correr no ayuda. Es un sitio para ir SIN PRISAS, ya que las mesas las atienden de una en una. Esperamos 2 horas para que nos sirvieran la comida. La cual era básicamente patata frita y ensalada… Pedimos calamar a la plancha y nos trajeron sepia, que por cierto estaba durísima. Sin contar que habíamos pedido arroz de pulpo y no había y tuvimos que cambiar de platos… a calamar a la plancha y langostinos fritos. Dejo las fotos de los platos. Antonio nos contó que el año pasado tuvo un ACV, se le ve muy mayor, se olvida de las cosas… la hostelería le está pasando factura. Espero volver pronto y verlo pero no trabajando, sino haciendo artesanías (hace unos barcos preciosos que tiene exhibidos en el bar). Hablo de mi experiencia… leí las reseñas y eran muy buenas y por eso nos quedamos pero si hubiéramos sabido que tardaba 2 horas la comida LITERAL, 2 horas, no íbamos. La calidad de la comida que pedimos nosotros no era la mejor pero la verdad que Antonio nos encantó! Un guerrero! Se le ve un hombre humilde, trabajador y amable.
