This beach is nice but less scenic than the the other beach in Sagres: Praia do Tonel. However while Praia do Tonel is the go to beach for surfers, Praia da Mareta is more sheltered and therefore fitter for your typical lazy day and bath in the sea: less wind (although wind is omnipresent in Sagres), quiet and slightly warmer (but still cold) waters. The beach is quite wide, with a small part catered with beds and umbrellas. Water is very clean. When I visited I found no algae apart from the very far ends of the beach. It’s not windy as it’s shielded by the surrounding cliffs and the water is less cold than the western Atlantic-facing beaches.
