The food was good, but significantly overpriced, and the appetizer portions were ridiculously small. The staff was generally friendly, but the restaurant tries to present itself as a fine dining establishment—unfortunately, the service does not live up to that standard, especially considering the high prices.
Despite the restaurant not being particularly busy, we had to ask twice for water and ended up waiting around 30 minutes. It felt as though once the food was served, the service essentially stopped. I ordered my steak medium rare but received it medium well. I sent it back and waited another 30 minutes for a replacement, which meant we couldn’t eat together. To make matters worse, the sides were cold and the second steak came out medium, not medium rare. There was no apology, no complimentary drink—nothing offered to make up for the experience.
Definitely not a fine dining experience, service is slow and there are other great restaurant options around the corner with good food for...
Read moreWhat a lovely and fortuitous find. We are staying at the resort and so far have eaten here three times. The service is impeccable. Setting is stunning - a sweeping and unimpeded view of the ocean. I had a mushroom pizza the first time - thin crust with very thin slices of crispy mushroom - so good. My friend had mushroom risotto, which was also delicious. For lunch, I had a tuna salad, which was a bit small but with a delicious dressing and fresh greens. My friend had a smashburger, which she said was fantastic. Tonight, I had the cod. Very traditional style (a bit salty for my taste) fresh with a tasty side of beans, cabbage, and an egg (tastes better than it sounds). Only disappointment so far has been dessert, which I am assuming is more cultural than a failing of the kitchen. The cheesecake tasted like a very strong cheese and was very dense. But otherwise this has been a great find Definitely need a reservation though (we went...
Read moreOutdoor ambiance at sunset was lovely. We had the fish with pasta, filet, and chicken with sausage rice. All of the food was good, but not great. For dessert we had the apple pie and goat cheesecake. The apple was good, but the pie crust tasted like burnt pizza oven which was overpowering. The goat cheesecake tasted mostly like goat cheese (not sweet). Servers were all very kind but overall the dinner took over 2 hours. With other delicious food in sagres, would not revisit, even at a lower...
