I would like to start by clarifying that I was not able to eat here due to the circumstances; therefore, I cannot speak to the quality of cuisine. However, my girlfriend and I tried to find a table here shortly after 9 PM on a Friday. After waiting for 5-10 minutes, we decided to seat ourselves as the employees all seemed to be ignoring us and there was several empty tables.
After sitting down the manager came over, to whom I spoke Portuguese. He informed me that the kitchen was full (not sure exactly what this meant). I explained to him that all we wanted was a small snack and dessert/coffee. He repeated to me several times, in a short and cold tone, that they are a restaurant and do not only serve dessert and coffee or small snacks which I find to be extremely strange. When someone is offering you business for very minimal work or effort, and you direct them out the door, I find this to be extremely unprofessional. I have eaten at hundreds of restaurant all over Portugal since I was a kid and have never been treated like this at an establishment.
We plan on visiting sagres tomorrow again but will most definitely not be attempting to visit...
Read moreAn overpriced kind of tourist trap. The service was good.
We had several dishes, all of them were absolutely bland in terms of classic Portuguese cuisine. Fried shrimps were obviously either not fresh or wrongly stored - it was impossible to peel them. Clam & shrimp spaghetti had 3 shrimps and 6 clams. My octopus salad was not tempered at all, it was obviously freshly cut, so onion was horribly sharp, while normally all ingredients should be well blended and infused with each other. I didnât order clams I originally wanted, at 16⏠I can eat them in a fancy restaurant.
Iâd avoid this place and look for a more reasonable and authentic place elsewhere after...
Read moreAbsolutely brilliant! Exactly what our foodie trip through Portugal needed on the Algarve leg. Authentic, delicious and with lovable service. We wanted something that didn't involve fries and we found it - the fish stew in traditional style. Think a paella, minus the rice and with large chunks of fish and king prawns. Lip smacking good. Highly recommend the traditional, homemade desserts (we had the house pudding and the carob tart). The tart has us trying to figure out the recipe to recreate it....
