Very torn how to rate this one. The good: Service is excellent. No reservation but were put on waiting list and manged to get a table about 30min later. For whatever reason we weren't offered to wait at the bar and have a drink in the meantime. Lots and lots of vegetarian options which is a nice change to the usual portugese cuisine. Kitchen is ambitious to say the least. Lots of homemade stuff, cool if you like fermented things and apparently they source most of the produce locally. The bad: While ambitious the kitchen lacks in execution. Everything LOOKs amazing (Instagramable) but besides the first entree we had (The Garden, excellent!) most of the things lack in taste. Especially the pizza is nothing to write home about. We didn't like the desserts at all. They sound amazing on the menue but for example the brownie was just very dense and boring. Portion size is too small, both of us left hungry (we had entrees, mains and dessert) and the bill was the highest on our whole trip mainly because entrees, drinks (wine! in portugal!) and desserts were quite expensive. Main dishes were priced reasonably. though. The deco is meant to look homey but feels artificial. So, excellent idea and concept but lacking execution and very...
Read moreAfter a long, hot, salty day on the beach at Cordoama, we snuck in an early supper PISCO (love that they open at 6pm AND one of the only restaurants in the area open on Sunday's - for anyone visiting this area on day trips!). We’d been waiting to go back on our next day on the West Algarve and it was more than worth the wait.
The gaspacho with ice-cold basil granita was the most refreshing start imaginable, followed by their classic but salubriously innovative watermelon tataki that is both fun and full of flavour. The homemade pasta was perfectly pillow, and the desserts: the best tiramisu we’ve ever eaten, and a dreamy lavender ice cream topped with bee pollen that tasted like summer on a spoon.
We finished intime for sunset on Bordeira beach. The perfect way to end a sunday at what is easily the best on the Algarve’s west coast. We’re already dreaming of...
Read moreWe had a very friendly reply when we reserved by email and have been looking forward to going to Pisco in Vila do Bispo. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted and introduced to the specials. We ordered both specials and were glad we did: the baby beetroot and burrata starter was a highlight, incredibly fresh and full of flavor. The flatbread was another standout. For mains, we enjoyed a well-made pizza, and finished with two indulgent desserts: a rich chocolate mousse and a great tiramisu.
I was glad to find a nice local and different than normal option for non alcoholic drinks in a non alcoholic IPA beer and my wife had a lovely white wine from the minho region. The restaurant is very cosy and the owner curates vinyl records that play throughout the evening, even displaying the album covers on the bar. A lovely little touch. Can highly recommend and...
