Sure, I can add that information to the review. Here is the updated review: Restaurante Carlos is a small, family-run restaurant located in the town of Sagres in the Algarve region of Portugal. The restaurant is known for its fresh seafood, particularly its goose barnacles, shellfish, and lobster. I had the pleasure of dining at Restaurante Carlos a few weeks ago, and I was blown away by the quality of the food. The goose barnacles were some of the best I've ever had, and the lobster was cooked perfectly. The shellfish was also delicious, but the oysters were just okay. They were fresh, but they didn't have much flavor. The service at Restaurante Carlos was also excellent. The staff was friendly and attentive, and they were happy to make recommendations. We even got a free dessert after our meal! Overall, I had a wonderful dining experience at Restaurante Carlos. The food was amazing, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was charming. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Sagres, but I would skip the oysters. Here are some of the pros and cons of Restaurante Carlos: Pros: Amazing seafood Excellent service Charming atmosphere Affordable prices Cons: Small restaurant, so it can get crowded No reservations, no problem , we got it right away Oysters were just okay If you're looking for a delicious and authentic Portuguese seafood experience, then Restaurante Carlos is the place for you. Just be sure to book your table in advance, as the restaurant is very popular! Here are some of the dishes that I recommend: Goose barnacles Lobster Shellfish Arroz de marisco (seafood rice) Cataplana (fish and shellfish stew) Pastel de nata (Portuguese custard tart)

We were staying in Sagres for a few days for holiday in Nov. The town wasn’t too busy. We found this restaurant around our hotel. We arrived at 6:40pm on a Tuesday. It wasn’t busy and the staff was eating. I felt sorry that they had to stop and served us. By the time we left around 8pm, the restaurant indoor was 70% full. Before we ate at this restaurant, My kid needed to use bathroom earlier the day and the staff let him use it even we were not eating there. So I decided to come back for a meal. I have always been wanted to eat the Portuguese seafood rice. It looked really good from someone else’s photos. I ordered it and it was made from scratch. It took around 25-30 minutes. And it didn’t disappoint. The rice was so flavourful with the fresh seafood. There were one whole crab, prawns, mussels, clams. The crab was presented in 4 pieces. Tools were provided to crack the shells. It definitely wasn’t easy to eat the crab meat but the experience and everything was worth it. We also ordered grilled squid, it came with potatoes and boiled broccoli. The house red was so good, sweet and full body. The staff was very friendly, there was one gentle being very nice to my toddler son, played and talked to him. There is a fish tank, and kids are quite interested in it. Definitely an entertainment for them. I would recommend for family, couples, group of friends to eat here.

Please wait to be seated…only if you neglect that sign and step forward, then you will be noticed…but not seated yet. 4 waiters just stood around and referred to the boss. Eventually we were allowed to sit. The menue we grabbed ourselves and after a while we could order! The beverages arrived pretty fast but the starters took a while. The grilled gambas were pretty good. Then it took another 30 min to the main course. Grilles salmon wirh potatoes and vegetables turned out to be a rather oily fish, 2 lonely potatoes and some overcooked cabage-like something. The steak was ok, but not more. The fries looked like somebody else returned them-and so they tasted… So basically not worth the money, we had high expectations based on the rather profusely written reviews. Other guest we exchanged our experiences with claimed similar disappointment.

During our wonderful family vacation in Portugal, we had the pleasure of exploring various restaurants, and it's safe to say that this particular establishment stood out as a gem. The culinary experience was truly exceptional, with a delectable array of fresh dishes that were expertly prepared. Their fish dishes, in particular, were an absolute delight and left us thoroughly satisfied. The service we received was warm, attentive, and made us feel right at home. If you happen to be in the vicinity of Sagres, I highly recommend indulging in the exquisite offerings at this restaurant – it's a taste of perfection that you won't want to miss. Needless to say, we are eagerly looking forward to returning in the future!
