I asked a local friend from Vila do Conde to recommend a good spot with an esplanada (outdoor seating), and wow—Cangalho was an absolute gem! From the moment we arrived, the vibe was welcoming and relaxed. The owner himself suggested we try the linguado (sole), and it was a perfect call—fresh, flaky, and beautifully cooked, paired with an incredible tomato rice that hit all the right notes.
My friend had the house meat dish, which was rich, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. Even the kid’s pasta dish was top-notch—simple, tasty, and clearly made with care. As a foodie, I had to try a bit of everything… and yes, everything was amazing. The sangria was also a highlight—refreshing, fruity, and dangerously good.
Cangalho really impressed me. Honest, high-quality food, great atmosphere, and lovely outdoor seating. I’d recommend it to anyone visiting the area. Brutal (in the best way possible)! I’ll definitely be...
Read moreWe were highly recommended by a local colleague to have our lunch here. The restaurant, located near the seaside of Porto, boasts beautifully decorated interiors and exteriors. I enjoyed the fresh seafood, especially the catch of the day from the ocean. We shared a large grilled seabass, commonly caught in these waters, and it was delicious and fresh, simply grilled to perfection. I also loved the clams, which were incredibly fresh and cooked simply with olive oil, making them so flavorful and tasty, full of umami. Paired with the local Douro River white wine, it was a fantastic experience! My other colleague chose the local beef, which looked delicious as well. We ended the meal with cheesecake and tiramisu, both delightful. The service was fantastic, despite only one waitress speaking good English. Overall, it’s a great place to enjoy...
Read moreWe were two adults and two children, and the good experience started right from the reservation phone call. Very friendly staff and good service. My dish was really tasty and everything was good, but the only reason I'm giving 4 stars is because of what my family was having - "pataniscas de bacalhau" - this was served with a tommato rice that was cooked with tommato pulp and not as elaborated as my food for instance; as this is a very typical dish in Portugal I found it too expensive. It was just the first time there and I'm sure that other dishes are much better looking at the other tables. For sure I'll give this restaurant another opportunity to try other items from the menu and I recommend this restaurant for the...
