We visited Romando last Saturday, dinnertime. The location and ambience were both great.
We started with a prawn tempura and 2 cocktails which were ok. Then we asked for a premium chef sushi/sashimi, which "looked" great, however... we were told that toro was not available and the waiter said she was asking the chef to add chutoro. But Chutoro was not in the plate. then, when we tried the tuna sashimi, the center of the piece was hard and cold (unfreezing) while the periphery was soft... we shared this to the waiter, and were told that unfortunately it is happening because it is kept in a different place which is broken and too icy.. what?!? And that's it? What about customer service? the other pieces were ok, not stunning. One made my girlfriend feel sick.. and the one with a fried quail egg was cold and with no flavor.

The tuna and white fish sashimi had no taste at all, the hot rolls tasted only oil, the truffle Gunkans didn’t even taste truffle and the service was very bad overall. The only recommendation would go to the brazed salmon starter but the second time we ordered it “was not prepared by the chef so yeah, nothing to do with the first one you had at the beginning of the meal, honestly this guy doesn’t know how to cut the fish” (This was the explanation we received by the waiter when confronted him with the night and day difference). If it costed half the price it would still be way too expensive for the quality provided. Also the waiters are extremely arrogant. Not only will I never come back as will definitely recommend everyone to stay...

Reservation notes asked about dietary concerns. If you are gluten free please reconsider eating here. Their soy sauce replacement was a dark rice vinegar. I did not think to bring my own Tamari. The sashimi platter was festively decorated with cut succulents, shredded daikon and leaf tapers. The slices of fish were inconsistent in size, some should have been reserved for soup stock. Staff was harried during service but pleasant. Could not order sushi, “the rice has vinegar with gluten in it”. A new development since the last visit! Maybe a dinner would have been...
