A Pedra Furada Tasca Porto — Restaurant in Vila Nova de Gaia

I was a bit apprehensive about coming here as recent reviews weren’t great but honestly it was lovely. The grilled fish was lovely and fresh, a great price and the servers were friendly. A lot of people have mentioned hidden costs / extras added to the bill - we simply said no thank you to the olives / bread and they didn’t charge us for them. Yes maybe it’s a bit cheeky to not mention that they are not free, but it’s easy enough to say no or otherwise they are literally a few euros! If I had any criticism it would be a bit too much oil on the salad but otherwise everything was nice and the price was good...

I loved so much this place with still the same nice view. Unfortunately this year was the second year I had a bad experience with the food. Last year my fish was hurried and half cooked. I asked them to redo their job and excused them. This year I took 'lulas grelhadas' and as you can see in the picture, it was unsafe and not cleaned at all. If you don t know how to eat this because you are a tourist, you might have one of this long things in your throat. My advice for the owners is to return at the quality food. You have plenty of tourists, you really don t need...

I had a fish dish (forget which) and it was delightful, served with a good selection of sides. The price was ridiculously low. I would easily have paid three times as much for the same meal in the US, or twice as much even in another in of town!

With a party of 14, the service was surprisingly speedy, given the number of people working. Our server spoke very little English and we had no Portuguese speakers among our party of nine nationalities and six mother tongues, yet there were no mistakes in our orders and everything went swimmingly.
