I might have put this down to a language barrier but when you specifically point at what you want on the menu, you would expect that you would get it. To start, I asked about and then ordered a specific beer before ordering food. The waiter came back 10 minutes later without a beer to take my food order. I reordered the beer, and a sandwich and fries with sauce. This time, I pointed at every item on the menu. The waiter even repeated it. He returned with a beer and a sandwich. I thought maybe the fries weren't done yet? And that he would be back with them soon. But he never came back at all until I was finished with what he had brought me. By then I was totally frustrated, so didn't want to bother to point out that he didn't get my order right. I just wanted to pay and leave. At least they charged me correctly. Regarding the food: I ordered a cachorrinho. In comparison with Gazela in Porto (whose sandwiches set the bar for me), this sandwich was flat and dry, the meat was too tough to neatly bite through and very spicy. Cheap ingredients? Poor cooking? It just seems like this place doesn't care about the quality of their service...
Read moreA new favorite in a city where it is getting harder and harder to find a good place to eat with affordable prices and good atmosphere. The food is amazing! I had a francesinha that was filled with a tender steak and a great sauce. I didn't have to pick it apart to remove stuff like I have to do in most places because the ingredients were high quality and very well balanced. The french fries were acompanied with a delicious mayo, garlic and parsley sauce. My husband had a hot dog with amazing crispy bread and great quality sausage and he went for seconds! The sangria was very tasty and had a well balanced fruit ratio. For a meal for two, we payed 30€ including drinks and coffee and left feeling satisfied and well nourished. The place itself is very well decorated with an amazing view to our beloved Douro river which is best appreciated during the day time. The atmosphere was calm yet joyous with classic rock playing. In essence, we loved it! I haven't felt this good in a restaurant in this city for...
Read moreSo this was our last day in Portugal (Porto) and this lovely restaurant called Mirone Cachorrinhos do Morro (Underground which is the same restaurant only underground) was just across the street of our B&B. They gave us a very warm welcome to begin with, brought us to our seat and they even did some suggestions (which we love).
We order a perfectly cooked tender loin beef sandwich with ham & cheese, an insane and surprisingly sausage with cheese with this amazing saus, some slow cooked sort of croquettes with a nice homemade salsa aswell as some french fries with a special garlic mayo
We had some good wines (white and rose) and even got a complementary cocktail to get us familiar with their cocktail menu.
This was everything we hoped for and more on our last night in Portugal and i suggest you go to this amazing nice and surprisingly good...
