Bar Du Port – an insult to hospitality.
Our experience at Bar Du Port was beyond disappointing — it was insulting. We arrived at 1 am, knowing the venue is open until 2 am, simply wanting to stop by the bar for a short time. Despite the fact that many guests were leaving and the restaurant was clearly half empty, the hostess insisted it was “fully booked.” This was an obvious lie, repeated with no shame, just to keep us outside.
When we asked to speak with the manager, the hostess went as far as to tell us we were “very unrespect,” only because we refused to waste time arguing with her. Instead of offering a solution, she escalated the situation with rudeness and arrogance.
The manager then appeared, and rather than apologizing, he invented a brand-new rule on the spot, claiming that on Thursdays walk-ins are not allowed without a reservation. How absurd is it to enforce such a “rule” one hour before closing, when the restaurant is visibly half empty? This excuse was not only unprofessional, but also downright insulting to our intelligence.
This is not the first time we have faced the same excuse from Bar Du Port. On multiple occasions, staff would claim the venue was “fully booked,” but if we happened to know someone inside, we were suddenly let in without issue. Clearly, the “fully booked” excuse is nothing more than a dishonest tactic used selectively, depending on the staff’s mood.
The worst part: nobody cared. No apology, no accountability, no respect at all.The only exception was a young man at reception (wearing glasses), who at least tried to be polite and apologize. Sadly, his professionalism was completely overshadowed by the disgraceful attitude of the hostess and the so-called manager.
Bar Du Port is unprofessional, dishonest, and disrespectful to its guests. If this is how they treat people who simply want to enjoy a drink before closing time, they do not deserve to call themselves part of the hospitality industry. There are dozens of far better venues in this city — ones that actually welcome and value their guests.
I am not the type of person who normally complains about staff or venues — I have personally been part of the hospitality industry myself, and I fully understand how this business works. That is exactly why the behavior at Bar Du Port was so shocking to me.
I cannot understand what motivates these people, what standards they follow, or by what logic they feel entitled to arbitrarily turn guests away at the door. We were not drunk, we were completely sober, clear-minded, and respectful. We simply wanted to stop by for an hour to relax, especially since this venue is located close to our home.
Yet instead of being welcomed, we were treated with arrogance, lies, and a total lack of professionalism. For anyone working in hospitality, this kind of conduct is unacceptable — and it is the exact opposite of what this industry is supposed to stand for.
Avoid Bar Du Port at all costs. Sincerely, a guest who will...
Read moreFirst and last time going last Thursday around 7:40. I was meant to meet up there with my husband and his friends and got there first. There were no other customers. The hostess was unjustifiably rude when I said I didn’t have a reservation (I had asked whether a table for four was available) and just said “I’m sorry, we are fully booked”. I glanced at the empty restaurant, as there was not a single guest in sight, and asked what time guests were expected to arrive and she said they would be there within half an hour, followed by an inhospitable and almost sarcastic “I’m sorry”. I had no choice but to leave while the rest of my party were on their way. I took a browse at d&g casa next door as I waited for the others since they were almost there and lo and behold my husband called to say they were offered a table. Absolutely inexcusable. There was no apology made nor any welcome when I walked back over and the same hostess escorted me to the table. There were still absolutely no guests other than a quiet couple in a tucked away corner. Obviously that was far from a good start and as we all browsed the menu we felt the place was lifeless (see picture) with no vibe and decided to leave and go to Zuma instead where we were very warmly greeted and had a fantastic evening. I don’t think I need to reiterate how unacceptable the entire (thankfully short)...
Read moreI’m very disappointed with my recent experience at Bar Du Port it’s not my first time there but this time was unforgettable – especially due to the rude and unprofessional behavior of the hostess, (Tunisia or libanaise) From the moment we arrived, made us feel completely unwelcome. She gave me a wristband and then immediately took it back with no explanation, as if she didn’t want us there at all. There was no proper greeting, no hospitality – which is shocking for a place that presents itself as high-end. We came for Ladies Night, but she didn’t respect the spirit of the event. My friend, who doesn’t drink, was still being forced to pay for the drink package, which is unfair and disrespectful. When I calmly tried to explain she was dismissive and rude, showing no care or professionalism. As a guest, I expect to be treated with at least basic respect – instead, my boundaries were completely disregarded. This behavior is unacceptable and reflects very poorly on the establishment. Bar Du Port, you can do better. I hope management takes this seriously and trains staff like her on how to treat...
