So I've been seeing this restaurant on social media for quite sometime, and the first that came into my mind was "Oh, this Greek restaurant looks interesting" and you'll see why in the photos, because everything the architecture screams Greek and nothing about it speaks what it says it is.
As we walk in there, we say on the outdoor with the wind being merciless and blasting us away, but luckily we were greeted kindly and we got complimentary fresh bread from the oven. Looking at the menu and realizing it's French, was surprised but was still with an open mind to try new things.
The menu was difficult to read and very small font that's hard to track, luckily they're open to criticism and willing to report anything to their managers. I believe this was a pure French restaurant that's authentic and fancy.
Food: I'll be honest, I thought they were pretentious at the beginning and felt like they were being arrogant, but the food showed otherwise, The burrata was quite good and tasted really good with the bread you get. The Mushroom pasta was quite good, while the pasta grains were a bit solid, the mushrooms, sauce and the crème was delicious and so light in the stomach.
The baked potato is very good and very creamy and warm. The Steak was pure bliss, the sauce and the tenderness of the Steak was great and satisfying to indulge in.
As for the price, well it's a purist French restaurant in the Maha Island, I don't need to explain why it's expensive but I do commend for the food. The price is not for me but if you never had a French cuisine and wanna go to a proper place, maybe you wanna go there? There's probably other places in Qatar but I don't know to be honest.
Overall, great service, nice aesthetic that somehow fits to Greek culture rather than French aesthetic, nice outdoor seats to see Lusail and hear performances from Palace Vendome, flavorful and light dishes that they offer. But go there if you're feeling pretentious/ treating...
Read moreLPM is without doubt one of those “must try” establishments, especially as it will apparently only be in Doha for a very limited time. This was evidenced by the huge crowds it attracted throughout the FIFA World Cup, where after several failed attempts we eventually got our turn; and as expected the delectable food did not disappoint.
We started with the burrata, which to be honest was probably the best I’ve ever had; and I would actually go back just to have it again! The warm prawns were also delightful albeit not quite as mouthwatering, whilst the only regret was not ordering the escargots (maybe next time).
The mains were also delicious, where we opted for the Chilean Bass with chilli & lemon confit, and the grilled beef tenderloin with sweet harissa and chimichurri sauce; both cooked to perfection. Of course we ended with the Crème Brûlée.
LPM is by no means the only guilty establishment, however it seems that the one lasting affect of FIFA will be the continuation of the outrageous F&B prices that we’ve seen in recent months. It’s hard to swallow that paying QAR 500pp (excluding drinks) has now become “the norm” in Doha, which is quite ridiculous when you compare it to similar restaurants within the region or even Europe.
In LPM’s case, being a pop-up their time in Qatar will be fleeting during a period when no one really cared about prices; but for the restaurants that remain they may find it more difficult to justify & sustain the high prices, or they’ll...
Read moreMy wife and I recently visited LPM Doha and had a delightful dining experience. The restaurant reserved a lovely corner table for us on the terrace, complete with floor-level air conditioning for added comfort. The view from our spot was enchanting, and the weather was unusually pleasant, making for a wonderful evening.
We opted for the signature menu, priced at 345 QAR per person, and it turned out to be an excellent choice. The menu included four hors d'oeuvres, four mains, and two desserts, all of which were outstanding. Among the hors d'oeuvres, our favorites were the Burrata et Tomates and the Escargots de Bourgogne. As for the mains, we particularly enjoyed the Rigatoni aux Champignons, the Côtelettes d'Agneau Vivienne, and the Loup de Mer Préparé en Croûte de Sel.
However, I found the Coquelet au Citron Confît a bit too oily for my taste, even as someone who appreciates olive oil in Mediterranean cuisine. Despite this, it was well-cooked and tender. The desserts, while slightly plain, were still enjoyable. The Pain Perdu Façon ‘Cyrus’ stood out as superior to the Gâteau au Fromage Frais.
The service was professional and welcoming throughout our meal, although we did have to look for a waiter when it was time to request the bill. Overall, our experience at LPM Doha was exceptional, and it is definitely a place we plan to revisit and...
