Alassi Hot Foods & Sweets — Restaurant in Doha

I ordered the roasted chicken called Chicken Machine from Alassi, and overall, I was a bit disappointed. The size of the chicken was as described on the menu (around 1.5 kg), which was good. However, I personally found the flavor and aroma stronger than I expected, which made the chicken less enjoyable for me unless paired with the sauces.

The fries were thick and not very crispy, so once they cooled down, they became a bit soft and chewy. This has happened to me more than once, so I assume it may be the usual preparation style.

On the positive side, the hummus, garlic sauce, and spicy garlic dip were quite good and helped balance the flavors. The pickled vegetables, while fresh, were a bit too salty for my taste, which made them less refreshing as a side.

It’s a pity because their shawarmas, both chicken and meat, are excellent, probably among the best in Al Sadd and maybe even in Doha. Compared to those, the roasted chicken felt underwhelming in terms of...

This place is one of my best shawarma place here in Doha. Usually I’m always take my friends and relatives to this place. Everyone like’s Shawarma in Al Assi. Today just now I went this place with one of my new friend. After paying for two shawarma I have given that bill to chef. Realized something wrong both chefs looks so angry. No usual welcome, shawarma taste is worst today. That bread over roasted flavor so bitter. Usually when we dine in they make shawarma with extra white source and some chicken piece on it. Today he gave us just full wrapped shawarma when I said we need for dine in. He show me by his hand just go there and eat. That body language is so disrespectful. I didn’t come there for eat shawarma with your money. Whatever you making I’m paying for it. Still coming to this place because that of that shawarma taste. But today they made that also worst. We visit the place mostly for their Shawarma and street food feel. They serve moderately tasty shawarmas (depends on individual taste buds) and toast the bread before serving. If your taste buds crave for sour cream flavours, then this is a good place and if otherwise then avoidable. Their claims of being the best shawarma in Qatar was definitely questionable. There are quite a few around us who make better claims. Besides, the food being okay types the menu options are very limited. And hence my ratings of 3 stars. We live in a world spoilt with choices :)

Their service is typical of any Arabic food joint we are all familiar by now. However they stand apart with some good options for in store purchases of pickles, sweets, oils and cheese among others. Sort of the homely vibe and culture. Maybe worth a visit for this...
