I went vegan for a week to see what it was like. I failed at eating 100% vegan because there are a lot more regulations than I realized. That said, eliminating meat and eating a plant-based foods gave me more energy . Veganism has been taking the world by storm for over a decade and, being a meat and dairy lover, I avoided it at all costs. Lately, however, a number of celebrities like Kylie Jenner, Ariana Grande, Miley Cyrus, and even Beyoncé have been eating vegan. This, along with buzz-worthy documentaries supporting veganism like "What the Health," inspired me to try the plant-based diet out for myself.
Before I could take on the challenge, I had to figure out what being a vegan entailed. Unlike vegetarians, who don't eat meat, vegans avoid any products that come from animals, like milk, dairy, and even eggs. Think full-on PETA style.
Although I believed I could get through a week without meat, I didn't know how I'd handle the "no dairy" part because cheese is my biggest weakness.

Then i find Evergreen Organics and there Breakfast proved to be the toughest meal for me to get through as a vegan.
My typical go-to breakfast items are milk and cereal, Greek yogurt, bread with Nutella, or some kind of egg dish. All of these are vegan no-nos, so I really had to put some thought into what I was going to eat every morning.
I thought I had solved my problems by eating cereal with soy milk, a vegan alternative. I realized, however, that Cheerios are not vegan because they contain vitamin D3 derived from sheep.
Although there are vegan cereals out there, I ultimately opted for a bowl of rolled oats with fruit and almonds or a vegan granola bar in the morning. Despite having fewer options, I wasn't complaining. It was still...
Read moreI am getting frustrated with Evergreen, I was so happy to discover this place in Doha, I was buying and ordering my favourites at first then I started to have problem with the milk, it keeps developing lumps from the first day once open, I shake and stir. I usually buy almond and hazelnut milk, three times the almond had lumps and bubbles just the next day I try to use it. I went to the shop to report and have an advise, the reply was: we are sorry, no explanation or even any a compensation. I stopped buying milk from there, googled the recipe and I am doing it myself. I buy retail items and my Mojo coffee. Today I ordered Mojo coffee and it came like black coffee, I called and i was told the barista is new. This is absolutely fine and people require training, in this case I blame the management since obviously they didn’t pass on the knowledge, no blame on the new barista, I looked up the item to report missing ingredients, the item disappeared from Talabat, so I guess they removed it right after I made my order. Was it too difficult to call me once I made the order and inform that we don’t have Mojo coffee (covering not knowing the recipe?) instead they made me a thing and sent it. I called and I was offered a new coffee next time I come. I don’t want the coffee or buying from this shop ever. I asked for a refund instead. So disappointed, I love the place, the vibe, the concept of the products and the menu, yet it seems something is missing, most probably training of staff, management and follow up issues. And I hope it won’t be taken on the staff, because usually they are to be blamed not the management. Let’s see if I will...
Read moreWhat a truly lovely and refreshing find. Situated at the quieter, but beautiful end of Qanat Quartier with a lovely view over Lusail and the canals (Instagram perfect sunset photos). It is in comfortable walking distance from Porto Arabia (use the walkway under the highway following the canal that connects Qanat Quartier with Porto Arabia). Alternatively there is ample parking at Qanat Quartier. They are open from 7am-11pm. Outside there are lovely trees creating a canopy together with hedges and other plants. The atmosphere is 'green' and fresh, with wall-plants, beautiful murals, and an array of vegan books (like mini libraries) in baskets and shelves across the restaurant. Do not expect animals products of any kind in here (fully vegan), but do expect very flavoursome, healthy, and delicious food. The burgers are filling and wholesome (such as tasty cashew 'cheese' sauce). The side dishes such as cauliflower and sweet potatoes are super delicious and tasty. The berry 'tomato' sauce is splendidly rich in flavour. Overall the food is geared to maximize as many natural flavours as possible. Coffees are good, but with almond or oat milk (I prefer soy, but they did not have). Personally the oatmilk is too thick for my taste and liking and I assume an acquired taste. There are delicious chocolatey treats and tarts to be had with a warm beverage. Deli foods, nuts and dried goods are also on sale. Professional and friendly staff. You walk out feeling satisfied, but not stuffed and heavy which feels...
