Chong Qing — Restaurant in Bucharest

So, we just went to this restaurant - I had it on my list from 2 years ago when I went there and I liked the terrace. I went there because of the good reviews.

But it was not as great as I expected. We were a group of three, unfortunately I only took photos of my order.

The chicken+tofu+shiitake mushroom soup was great. I would go there again to eat this, it was awesome!

but then, everything else was weird. The sizzling plate duck was mediocre - when I order a hot plate dish I expect to see the dish containing my food, but there was an aluminum foil between, and when it was brought, it was definitely not sizzling. Also, in this plate, everything was great but the duck seemed boiled - and it's not nice to have boiled duck skin as it's simply gross.

About the dishes of my friends, it was weird. They were quite good taste-wise, but it was weird to get kung-pao chicken that actually has no sauce. Same with the 5-color chicken. Maybe it's a recipe from a different part of China, I don't know. But everything I can find should actually have a sauce. Therefore, the rice we ordered was pretty useless.

It's not bad per se, but it was quite different than what we expected, especially because the high ratings raised my expectations by a lot.

The waitress kept excusing herself because she's slow, but this does not help it. To be honest, she was very friendly and helpful so I will not take points off that.

Card payment is not possible, and when we told the waiter that they should have it as it's mandatory from the law, she pretty much told us how nobody cares (in her own words, but this was the message).

I might come back, but I might not. Not the best chinese restaurant in Bucharest, although their terrace is pretty nice, and I've seen really nice-looking dishes at other tables. Maybe we just ordered the...

The food is excelent (a bit to oily for my taste, but delicious) , portions are gigantic, and the table delivery is quite speedy. Depending on who you end up as the server it can be nice or not so nice. The lady and the dark haired man are wonderful and a pleasure to talk to, even in the most busy of days. (I belive his name is Mario, but I just overhead it so I might be wrong) Then there's the other server guy, the one with hair starting to turn gray on the sides. You can see him behind the bar in the photos. Asked him if there are seats upstairs, he replied that there are not enough people in the restaurant, and he doesn't get paid to walk up the stairs all day. Was about to leave the place, but met the other server at the door who said that he'll be taking my order, so I sat a table. He had to leave the room for a bit though, and the greish haired guy was the only one available. Asked him for a beer, he got it out of the fridge, placed it on the counter, then continued to wipe a glass for a bit, before coming over with the beer at the table. Nobody will serve you with a good attitude and etiquette. The waitress seems like she doesn’t give a damn about anything in the world, not to say that she is not interested in not even taking your order or delivering it properly ‼️

The food came quickly but the taste was not what i was expecting. Too much oil and zero flavor. The menu is however full of different dishes.

The serving is a horror movie or a joke: dirty plates, old clutery which was clearly just sitting on the table since jurasic park, no salt or pepper, worst quality napkins ever and the list may continue..

The restaurant looks old, moldy, not clean, infected. Plus they have all kind of bugs flying around in your face / food / drinks ( please see the picture taken of a few of them) Not sanitary, will ask for ANPC to check them. Also, a client entered the indoor part with his dog..

Overall, strongly NOT...
