This old house is real a gem, reflecting the atmosphere from a bygone era. It was built in 1750 and have been restored several times since then and it is known as the oldest inhabited house from Bucharest. It was the home of a rich Armenian family and it is located in one of Bucharest's most charming old neighborhoods. The museum's interior is beautifully restored and preserved. There are some exquisite pieces of art and old furniture exposed here but it takes a trained eye to discover them since they are not always properly labeled. A fine European painting collection from the 16-19 centuries (English, Spanish, Flemish, French), sculptures, ceramics and also a few of Theodor Pallady's paintings (last owners family Raut were his friends). I think this old house together with its surroundings are a special place and definitely...
Read moreVery lovely house. Really one of a kind in Bucharest. If you don't intend to see the art gallery, which contains some very impressive pieces by the way, at least go visit this museum for the fabulos house it is in. A not so big but very stylish for its Era house of the Radut family, will impress you with the finishes and architecture details. Stuff was very friendly and the museum had no other guests except us at that time, on a Thursday afternoon, before closing hour. It exhibits art from all around the world and dating from XIIth century to the XIXth century (plus some bonus which I guess are even older than that). I was especially impressed by the furniture and also by the sketches of Theodor Pallady. A very lovely, cozy, little place that can bring some peace and harmony in one of your days...
Read moreThe house is beautiful. It is in fact the only reason for a visit. I would have needed more information on the architecture, a plan for example, but the only thing available was a brochure to be bought at the ticket desk. This is totally unacceptable for a museum belonging to the Ministry of Culture. There was no information in the rooms, except the very brief notes by the exhibits. There are very little art pieces in the museum, and the Pallady collection is truly disappointingly small and inconsistent. The staff is not helpful at all. They were gathered in a small group in the main hall, talking, and staring at the two visitors in such a rude way, it made me very...
