Fantastic little bakery/cafe by our hotel!

I have to start by saying that Bushe do have a little English menu, despite what other reviewers have written on other sites - if you go to the 'food' side of the counter rather than the 'bakery' side, there should be a little brown clipboard with brown paper on the counter or leaning against the display case (not the pastry display case on the left, but the case on the right where they have the hanging photographs of the food). Just note that they seem to change up some of the dishes daily - for example, it doesn't appear that they have all of the soups listed on the English menu. Rather, they seem to have a soup of the day!

A lot of them speak fairly good English, they just seem to be shy about it - ask them in Russian first if they English, and they seem to be very quick at fetching a colleague who speaks English if they don't. Thankfully, I speak Russian quite well - but my partner doesn't, and he's gotten quite good at asking the girls who speaks English!

Now, on to the food!

We have literally nothing to fault except for not being able to tell what soups are on that day. We've been in SPb for almost two weeks, and most mornings/afternoons we find ourselves here.

The bread is lovely, my partner loves the soups, and I've been fond of the risotto (although it's not as most of us would know it - it's what I imagine is probably 'Russian style'). The pastries are nice and fresh, and the staff have been absolutely lovely with us.

We both love the lattes here, although I must admit that we haven't been brave enough to try and ask for anything else on their drinks menu!

If you order a meal/something that needs to be cooked or reheated, you'll be given a table number to go sit down with. If you've ordered something that they can give you right away in addition to your hot food, they'll give you a tray with this table number to sit down with.

Service can be a little slow when they're busy - but it's understandable, considering how absolutely packed it can get in there! If you can get a little window seat, it's nice just to watch the world go by...and this time of year, the windows are done up with festive decorations!

Card and cash is accepted, and they don't seem to mind which you pay with.

For SPb, the prices are quite reasonable - especially compared to some of the large coffee chains that clearly are not Russian...

Note that once you've connected to their Wi-Fi once, you may stay connected throughout your trip - on my Pixel phone, I connect every time we walk by automatically. However, my partner's iPhone doesn't and he has to reconnect. Like almost all places in SPb, you'll be texted a connection code.

Посетили данное распиареное место с мужем 16 августа. Заказали рисовую кашку,сэндвич и веганские фрикадельки с пастой и овощами. Нас заранее предупредили, что ожидание блюд будет занимать около 30 минут, мы согласились,так как была полная посадка и плюс ещё постоянно заходили люди за заказами в дорогу. Сели за столик,стали ожидать. Кашу и сэндвич принесли действительно за 30 минут, а вот фрикаделек было и не видать. Через 1 час терпеливого (терпилоидного) ожидания мы поинтересовались,где же они. Официантка сходила на кухню и вернувшись сообщила, что через 15 минут они будут готовы. Их действительно принесли через 15 минут. Да только вот при первой же пробе было выявлено, что паста не сварена. Нет, не пресловутый аль-денте, а самое что ни на есть сырое тесто. Я подумала,ну бывает, вот в другой то части точно все сварено,но нет, она была такая вся. Мы попросили заменить это блюдо, официантка, увидев сырую пасту, спорить не стала, правда и не извинилась (хотя в принципе, не она же готовила,ей чего извиняться). Сказала,что блюдо заменят. Через 5 минут (!!!) нам вынесли замену. Ею оказалась та же самая паста, только довареная, и еще целая тарелка масла в котором она "доходила". У меня есть проблемы с пищеварением,поэтому я отдала это благосклонно мужу. Проблемы с пищеварением, после такого количества масла, не миновали и его правда, жаль этого добряка. И вроде бы, за что ставить одну звезду, "схавали" же в итоге. А за то что ждали сырое тесто, тарелку растительного масла, немного обжареного баклажана и перца и веганские фрикадельки (которые по вкусу один в один от фирмы Hi..их я узнаю из тысячи) 1,5 часа, так еще и за 480 рублей. Если б они хоть были действительно приготовленые с нуля, а не полуфабрикаты которые я и дома разогрею, я бы даже не писала этот отзыв.Плюсом ко всему идут проблемы с ЖКТ..а да, еще мужу не очень понравилась каша, но это дело вкуса. Не придем...

Bushe appears to be a typical bread/pastries store chain, there are several around Pieter and the concept is very well made, almost "american" in the way products are presented and all. We came here for breakfast, and ordered some Sirniki, typical Dvorog pancakes. Well it looked much more like a mass produced Zapikanka to us (another typical Russian cake), we were a bit puzzled at first but decided to eat it nonetheless (it was a bit bland but acceptable all in all).
