I have mixed feelings about this place. First time we went there it was wonderful experience through out our dinner. A waitress Olga was very attentive, friendly and quick with serving the food. The food was delicious and fresh. However, the second time we went there we had a few issues. The first one was that some dishes were not as good as the previous time we went there: bread was not hot and fresh as before. One of the mains was dry and not tasting to our liking, eventually the dessert, fried suluguni cheese covered in sweet glazier, was also not hot. Previously we had this dessert and it was to die for but not this time obviously. I think it was served to us not straight after it had been cooked. The second issue was that one of the dishes we ordered, had never been served to us moreover, it was included in the bill which I had to dispute with the waiter who did not believe us in the beginning. Eventually after waiting for some time the item was removed from the bill. The third and the last issue is that ,after we finished our mains and we're waiting for the dessert for 20-30 mins, no one came to clear our table of dirty dishes untill the dessert was being served, despite of waiters and waitresses were free and we're chatting a couple of metres away. That's why I rate this place 3 out of 5. The first day when we were served by Olga we rated 5 and the second day I personally...
Read moreWas walking on the street looking for a place to have dinner. Decided on coming here because we wanted to try Uzbek and Georgian food, food we can hardly get back home. The atmosphere of the restaurant is really nice, the decor also looks nice. We started the order with order a pot of mulled apple cider which was really good to drink and was full of flavour from the spices. The first two dishes that came out were the Lagman soup and the Chebureki, the soup was full of flavour and probably my favourite dish. For being a soup it had a lot of meat in it. The Chebureki was also good, while not having as much meat as I thought it would the bread was so good tasting. After a bit our order of Ojahuri and 5 Khinkali(dumplings) came. The Ojahuri is a pork dish with potatoes, there was a ton of meat and potatoes. The meat was juicy and had a lot of flavour, the potatoes also were very good. The Khinkali had different flavour but the cheese one was the best. Overall great place and if someone is visiting Saint Petersburg or even lives here should definitely...
Read moreKarzan Mangal was our first touch to Georgian and Armenian restaurants in St. Petersburg and my goodness did they deliver.
We enjoyed the traditional grilled cheese bread which took our tongues along with our hearts. Mixed with varieties of pickles the lamb and chicken sasliks (skewers) had tender and beatifully spiced portions served on wooden tray. Lamb sausages accompanied by dill and potato mash was heavy as expected but tasty as anything could be. Finally, barberry juice mixed with mineral water and some Georgian brandy topped the night off.
Service was super helpful, staff spoke good enough english for the purpose of experiencing new cuisine.
Prices were affordable while portions were generous. Top marks for this...
