I LOVE this restaurant!!!! This place is a hidden gem in Kigali and one of the only Greek places left in Rwanda/Burundi. The owners are leftovers from when Greek merchants were prominent and plentiful in central Africa. The setting is the most stereotypical Greek kitsch you could imagine. There are columns, a wooden boat and bad wall murals. The ambiance is like walking into a private club that you went into by mistake. The patrons are out of central casting as are the employees. Sit outside and you are greeted by a lush garden, cool breezes and a view of the city that is to die for. Your waiter will be an overly attentive Congolese gent that tries too hard for a tip and earns it. The food is a welcome break and the bar is where shady deals happen. Go! They rent rooms too for long term stays. Several pilots that were doing some UN flights made their home there and found it ok. These were Ukrainian aviators and characters themselves. Did I mention that I love this place? It’s a nice restaurant, that’s hard to find and the food is acceptable. Take a date or a friend and have a glass of wine at the bar and dinner on the balcony. You won’t regret it and it’ll be a welcome break from brochettes and...
Read moreWe only stayed one night, but it was just fine. Rooms are small and basic, a couple of twin beds, mosquito nets, fan -- but clean and pleasant. ||The big selling points are price, attitude and location. Price -- $60 to $70 per night for a basic room plus a large breakfast. Attitude -- family owned, friendly staff. Location -- it's in Kimihurura, an upscale residential neighborhood that is quiet and safe but very centrally located. You are within 10 minutes walk of about a dozen different cafes and restaurants (and it's a pleasant neighborhood for walking). But you're also within 10 minutes walk of the Convention Center, the central business district, and the big hotels.||There's a Greek restaurant which is surprisingly good, and a clean swimming pool. Great view of the city, especially at sunset.||You'll see some negative reviews but they all seem to be five or more years old. We saw no problems.||Might not be ideal for a business traveler, but pretty perfect for travelers on a budget looking for a quiet pleasant refuge at a...
