Read moreThis morning, I ventured to Fi Glbak for an early morning breakfast with friends, eager to explore their take on Saudi cuisine. The restaurant's clean, tastefully decorated interior mirrored the promise of a delightful dining experience. However, our visit started with a minor hiccup as we arrived promptly at 7:01 am, only to find that they weren't quite prepared for early bird diners.
Despite the initial delay, the service was cordial, though a bit slow. It took until 7:20 am for our simple order of black coffee to be served, and our main dishes arrived a few minutes before the accompanying bread, leaving us momentarily watching our food grow cold before we could enjoy it.
One notable disappointment was their policy on hot sauce. When we requested a standard option like Tabasco, we were informed it wasn't available as a condiment; rather, you could order the homemade one from the menu at an additional cost. While I appreciate the desire to offer a curated dining experience, this felt restrictive for something so basic.
That said, the food itself was a highlight. The flavors were authentic and well-prepared, offering a glimpse into Saudi cuisine that I would happily share with international guests. Despite the minor service hiccups, the overall experience was satisfactory enough that I would consider revisiting, particularly to introduce others to Saudi culinary delights.
In conclusion, Fi Glbak offers a clean, tastefully decorated environment with authentic Saudi dishes worth savoring. While service could be more prompt and inclusive of basic condiments, the food quality and cultural experience make it a notable spot for sharing a taste of Saudi cuisine with friends...
Read moreI was excited to finally try this well-known local restaurant by a celebrated Saudi chef, but unfortunately, it fell far short of ALL expectations.
From the start, service was disorganized. We were told by the hostess we could order drinks while waiting (waiting area with seats and tables), but no one cleaned our table or took our order until we insisted. After about 25 minutes, we were finally seated, only to find leftover food on the seat and plastic utensils on our table — while other tables had proper metal cutlery. Staff seemed inattentive, and communication was poor across the board. It was obvious that my prior incident was either not communicated with the manager or was dismissed all together.
One of our dishes was forgotten entirely, and there was no real apology. I later spoke with a manager myself for about 5 minutes about all this and other concerns who was apologetic but too little much too late i'm afried.
The food itself was just simply not to our liking. The quality of ingredients was good but the execution was just so underwhelming, and other than the soup everything else didn't feel special at all — certainly not enough to justify the long wait list or premium prices. The large dining also felt disjointed and the decor in some areas fair while others had wear n tear.
Given such shortcomings, poor staff service coordination, lack of refinement and very normal tasting food such a rating unfortunately...
