I frequented this restaurant a few times before with my girlfriend, but only now did i decide to write a proper review. I love Šešir moj for many reasons. Let me first start by mentioning how it's nice and warm inside. You won't get cold as they have air conditioning and heating panels on the walls of the restaurant, which was very convenient for us. The bohemian, theatrical, and artistic vibe of the restaurant goes hand in hand with Skadarlija. From the old-styled lamps, the beautiful paintings, to the overall wooden structure and decoration, we can only applaud whoever was responsible for setting up Šešir moj. The food is amazing. We ordered pork neck and bohemian meatballs, which i highly recommend. The waiter didn't seem to be fluent in english, but that was no problem at all because the menus were also written in english, which made communication easier. In fact, he was kind and courteous. I appreciated his initiative on constantly replacing the ashtray and making sure we had everything we needed. As to the prices, they can easily skyrocket depending on your choice. Don't expect a cheap restaurant. The band plays SO very well, and it's a pleasure to listen to them. Last, but not the least, the toilet was super fresh and clean, which gives you the impression that care and attention are given to every detail. Highly recommended!...
Read moreGreat place in a great city in one of the greatest old streets of Belgrade. My father is Dutch and my mother is from the former Yugoslavia so I love coming here. I know all the songs and I love to come here, being it only for listening and singing together with the ''tamburashi'' who play live for the guests. This was the favourite restaurant of my late auntie who loved to come here and listen and sing together with them to. The nights we've spend here singing together... The beauty of Serbia is that everybody knows the same songs and you'll see everybody sings along. I mean, there's been times the whole place would sing together even if they would be standing at your table playing a song you ordered. I really mean most of all the customers. This is so euphoric, like you're in a football stadium hearing fans chant their songs for their favorite team. The service is great. Not to mention the food. You can find good food anywhere in Serbia but at Sesir moj the meat just tastes like out of this earth... I've brought 4 of my Dutch friends here this summer to taste the food and the atmosphere, and it was a life changing experience for them which they'll never forget and have spoken about to all the people they know in the Netherlands when they came back. Draga tetka pokojna uvek si u mom srcu kao što će i Šešir moj uvek...
Read moreThe restaurant looked really charming from the outside, which is what first caught our attention. The waiters wear hats and uniforms, giving off a very preppy and professional vibe. It was quite busy when we arrived (just before 7–8 pm), but they found us a table right away.
The staff were polite, and the food arrived quickly. Everything we tried was top quality and absolutely delicious – a fantastic spot for traditional Serbian cuisine!
The only thing I’d suggest for improvement is the menu design. It was poorly laid out and quite hard to read, especially with the Serbian text and English translations all mixed in. A restaurant of this caliber definitely deserves a well-designed, professional menu.
P.S. Just a heads-up – this is definitely a touristy spot, so prices are a bit on the higher side. There’s also a small note on the bill that says “Service not included,” which felt a little odd, especially considering that in most of Europe, tips aren’t mandatory and waiters generally earn a living wage. It’s not like in the U.S., though tipping culture has definitely...
