Most important: SORT BY LOWEST REVIEWS and read them, before making the wrong decision to visit this place, as they paint the real image of this place. It is a restaurant where racism is endorsed and you will be ripped off your money with all those “additional fees”. Wish I had read the reviews before deciding to come here.
I would give this restaurant -10 stars if I could due to their appalling treatment of customers, particularly by the older man, who I assume is their manager. Upon entering, we were completely ignored by the hostesses, who were preoccupied with some notebooks, despite us standing directly in front of them. We had to speak first just to get their attention and ask for a table for two.
Then, this so-called manager approached and shouted in Serbian that we needed to leave by 18:00 due to a reservation for a large group. That wasn’t a problem since we arrived at 16:00, but what was infuriating was that he turned to the hostesses and asked if either of them had told us that, while we were standing right there as if we were invisible. He then rudely barked if we understood Serbian, which was completely unprofessional. I responded in my own language, which is not Serbian, and made it clear that I understood everything, and he clearly understood as well.
Once seated, this manager continued to work in our section, and he never stopped yelling. Apparently, this is how he communicates. He made crude jokes and awful comments about guests that were there, that no 50-year-old man should make, coming across as an uncultured person dragged off the street to run a shift. Foreign guests were fortunate not to understand his words. He is a rude, unrefined, unprofessional joke of a manager.
While the drinks and salads were served promptly, I waited 50 minutes for a simple hamburger patty (pleskavica), which arrived after we had already finished our salads. They also brought bread (lepinja) that we didn’t order and charged us for it.
The only positives were the delicious food and excellent homemade wine. Our waiter, an older man with white hair, was very attentive and apologized, explaining that the meat was delayed due to a large number of guests.
Despite the quality of the food, I do not recommend this place. If you don’t want to be treated like trash or have your experience ruined by a foul-mouthed manager, take your...
Read moreDon’t get me wrong, this place gets a strong 3 stars maybe even 3.5. Ordered dinner with gf (Serbian). Food was pretty pricey for Serbia but whatever, doesn’t matter. Problem was it wasn’t worth what I payed to be honest. Two people 100€ so 50€ pro person. The food was well done had and good but it wasn’t worth the price, it didn’t justify 100€ price, I was expecting a bit more taste from the food. For example the šopska salat was good but there was no juice from the tomatoes and vegetables, a bit bland and you pay more because of location. The meat was good well done, but it was missing that juiciness and maybe a bit more tenderness from the meat. After eating I didn’t feel like it was worth the price.
When I first arrived my gf asked for the table and the lady at the front wasn’t really welcoming. She said to go around the back on the right said. We went and nobody was there ready to serve us to our table and we were lost and confused. We waited 5 minutes to be seated and the attitude of the people working were was to ignore us. We asked a bunch of people were to sit and they said to go to the front desk and ask. So basically, the front desk lady said to go to the back and the people working said go back to front, keep in mind I made a reservation. Whatever, table was eventually found and the guy serving us was very friendly and nice. Very polite and treated us very well.
It’s a historical restaurant with traditional roots, but overall it was okay. Food was good, atmosphere was cool, traditional history and presence was there, table service was excellent, but the lady upfront wasn’t very welcoming.
For the price it’s okay place. If you have the chance check it out, if not, skip it cause you’re not really...
Read moreFood, so so, we were expecting more in terms of menu choice, presentation and more than anthing else, taste , comparing to other restaurants in Skadarlija- should given them one star, so 3 is been extremely kind. Service- among the worst i experinced world wide, I joke you not! To Start with, we were running late - issues that many are familiar, i guees, exteremely difiocult finding parking in that part of Belgrade, so we gave them call lettiong thrm nkow that we migth be bit late.. . response we got , you got 15 minutes before you loose your reseravtion, in very rude way. to our surprise, the restaurant was 2/3 rds empty when we arrived and stayed that way trough the evening, lol. Our waiter was everyhting but welocming, we were sat at random table/ part od of our groop that we dropod earleir while we find thew parking, so reservation we made was just a joke. then..."cover charge" per person, Ok, but for waiter to bring us our bill back after we payed, saying that tip is not included is just outrageous|! If there was one single polite word, or even half a smile during the whole evening, sure thing. All of them working in Dva jelena look and behabe like they ve been press ganged , obviouly hating every minute of their job.Atmosphere- Live music on one end, and Second Ansemble, walking around from table to table pestering patrons for tip- not taking no for an answer, playing/ singing what ever , from traditional folk music ( one of the reason why Skadarlija is famous) which would be great if they didnt sound like 4 years old doing their first "twinkle , twinkle little star", to modern Englsih pop, all done trough very bad sound system- mixing with live music from other part of the restaurant , its...
