HORRIBLE FOOD!!!
Yesterday was my second visit to this restaurant. Located across the street from Little India MRT, Exit E, the place is in a central location. I was brought here by a friend a couple of weeks ago and we tried some prawn masala with butter chicken and nans. It was an excellent experience. For a small place situated right above a small food shack where you'd see people mostly drinking over the weekends, this place is quite unsual, given that the owners are still the same.
Anyways, because I was very impressed, I invited a friend over for dinner last night and ordered the same food and even more items.
Lamb Boti Kabab Prawn Masala Chicken Roti
The lamb came in a semi cook condition. I thought it may be just one piece, but we found that all of the food was the same! We asked the server to look into this and the server's excuse was the meat sold in Singapore is that ways! Wow! What he meant was that the lamb was unchewable because the meat in Singapore is hard~ Wow, my dear friend doesn't know that there is difference in cooking fish, chicken and lamb. Lamb needs to be well done, and has to be tender to be edible. He had a feeling of disagreement yet brought back the lamb into the kitchen and came back after 20 minutes with a couple of pieces in the same disposition! I gave up!..
If you're a fan of burning your own guts down with spicy food, then this is the right place is for you! Unfortunately, I''m not, so I had to bear the grunt of it. The prawn and chicken was SUPER spicy! When I mentioned it to the server, he brought the chef over and the chef took my spoon and tasted it from the dish right away! I feel its not only rude, but a display of how much they think about food hygiene. If they can do this so openly, I dare not to imagine what goes out in the kitchen.
And the best part was the solution that the chef offered: He offered to bring in tomato ketchup to eat with Prawn and Chicken! I didn't know if they were actually that silly or just fooling around, but they managed to earn this review well.
He went back into the kitchen with my dishes and came back adding some cream which only I could think of (against his popular suggestion of tomato ketchup) and the food tasted the same spicy.
I ordered a bowl of raita to go along with it, and it did not help either.
Ultimately I gave up and left the food as is. And I'm sick today!
All in all, I would NOT recommend this place for reasons of quality,...
Read moreFirst of all, I am not a person who clicks a lot of pictures of great tasting food. Thus, talking about Delhi~6, I can personally vouch n recommend their restaurant for any occasion.
We spent 5 days in Singapore and found Delhi-6 on day 4th (unfortunately).
Ate there on Day 4th n Day 5th, and ordered Rogan Josh (on both days because Rogan Josh could easily give Delhi Rogan Josh a run for it's money). Honestly speaking, Best Rogan Josh I ever had. Other dishes ordered were garlic naan, plain naan, tandoori roti, aloo jeera, jeera rice, vegetable biryani, raita, dal makhani n dal tadka (ordered over 2 days). Only aloo jeera fell short of expectations as potatoes were not cooked sweet but naturally sweet. All other items were brilliant and out of the world as far as taste is concerned. Quantity was decent and 2 people deserve a mention here - Prince and Ramesh ji. Both are absolutely gem and I appreciate their hospitality, support and welcoming nature which created an ever lasting impression.
Will definitely go their again on my next visit. By the way, the restaurant is located at Little India metro station (Take exit E and after you get out, take a U-turn and walk just...
Read moreI recently dined at Delhi 6 in Little India, Singapore, and unfortunately, the experience was quite disappointing. We ordered the Chilli Paneer, Aloo Pyaaz Parantha, and Samosa Chaat, but none of the dishes met our expectations.
The Chilli Paneer was extremely spicy, to the point where it overpowered any other flavors. While we expected some heat, the balance was completely off. The Aloo Pyaaz Parantha was another letdown, with very little aloo (potato) filling and an overwhelming amount of onion. It lacked the heartiness that we usually associate with this classic dish.
The Samosa Chaat was, by far, the most disappointing. It was served cold, making it almost unappetizing. Again, there was an excessive amount of onion in the dish, and it lacked any real flavor or tang that one expects from chaat. To top it off, the prices were quite high, almost comparable to fine dining at a place like the Taj, but without the quality to back it up.
Overall, Delhi 6 failed to impress, both in terms of taste and value. For the price, we expected far better...
