Oh my incredible experience. I am usually not a big fan of the stylistic device called repetition but I am gonna make an exception here: incredibly nicely done meat served by incredibly nice people with an incredible view over the harbor at incredibly descent prices, incredibly arranged to an incredibly well seasoned and styled plated dish with an incredibly well put together assortment of sidedishes that look and taste great with and incredible texture and mouthfeel. This was our favorite place to eat in Koper on our spontaneous trip to this city that at first shocked us a bit after the bus dropped us of between a mall and a McDonald's and we went to an industrial harbor from there with huge container ships being loaded. But walking a tiny bit more this city showed itself to be a beautiful pearl on the mediterranean sea, and after we found this place on our 4th day there, we went there 6 times on the last 5 days we spent there. Would have been 8 if they wouldn't have been closed on Sunday.

We loved their sense of emphasizing natural taste of great ingredients and create pairings and combinations that were just delicious for all senses, using a variety of techniques from smoking to sous vide, BBQ to make the dishes a special experience. And even in the drinks (we only drank ice tea and lemonade, home made and unsugared) you found the approach of emphasizing natural taste, but this was no comparison to the food. We felt that we could taste and experience the passion with which they do what they did for us, and all the side dishes from truffled mashed potatoes with a colorful assortment of dips of various Cremes to the daily soup to "just" the salad everything got us excited. We also had the chance for various short chats with a bunch of them at different times and it showed also there, happiness excitement and passion. Lucky us we came there before they got a star and we just hope that they keep cutting their veggies a millimeter to thick (quote) for the Michelin rules so we get to enjoy this great food in this extraordinary quality for these great prices we got. Steak House - BBQ Heaven in Koper!

El Toro in Koper, Slovenia, is a BBQ lover’s paradise! From the moment you walk in, you’re treated like family. The waitress? Absolutely the best you can find—kind, attentive, and incredibly friendly. She made our experience unforgettable with her warm and welcoming energy.

Now, let’s talk about the food. I had the rib-eye steak, and it was cooked to absolute perfection—juicy, tender, and bursting with flavor. My husband had the ribs, and I can’t emphasise enough how delicious and melt-in-your-mouth soft they were. The BBQ guy is a true master of his craft! And the fries? Oh my goodness—crispy, golden, and absolutely to die for.

The place itself is beautifully decorated, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere. And guess what? They even have a playroom for kids! Can you imagine that? A place where both parents and little ones are happy—it’s a win-win!

Food was great and staff was kind and engaging with good service. So why 2 stars you may ask. Simply because the prices are way above the amount 90% of people living in this town can afford and they were not justified. The prices despite being a "high end" burger place have no sense because I atleast expect to not go away hungry if I pay 13+eur for a burger. The portion was so so very small I didn't came even close to being full. After this I went to fast-food down bellow because I felt like I didn't even eat. So yea prices can be high but atleast make them worth it. What's the point of going to eat if then you are hungry afterwards. A simple fix would be a bigger burger bun but for some reason go for a tiny bun. Its not like bread is so extremely expensive that they cannot pay for it if they price the burger 15eur. And also the fries you get like 5 of them........ Potatoes are so cheap.......... You basicly get 1kg in the store almost for free, but then on the plate they give you 5 fries. Like yo? Iam not going again here...
