Omg... I feel so so bad... For not been able to let myself give them a 5 stars! This is one of the best egg fried rice I ever had... And this is a big time coming from Singapore, where we have lots of fried rice variations, in our coffee shops, even our King of Fried Rice stalls, and not forgetting our Ding Tai Feng fried rice (that many loves, but not me)! The rice wasnt the grain by grain kind, but the flavour, the simplicity of it with just onion, carrots, some corns and some misc stuffs made it so perfect! For an egg fried rice at 55rands, I wouldn't call it cheap by any means in A.africa standards, but this is the kind that I would pay double for it! So why not 5 stars? That's because of the Sichuan Sauerkraut Fish (namely 酸菜鱼片), which was good on a cold night and presented in a cute heated hot! I can smell the szechuan peppercorn upon opening the cover and it was delicious! Just way too salty. It may look like a decent bowl size for 1 pax, but the depth of the bowl was shallow and in my mind, I was thinking of only they could dilute it a little with more soup in a slightly bigger container, and such that its less salty, then it will be perfect! Perhaps tough to penalise them just for a small issue... But the saltiness isn't a small issue, considering that I am a savoury person who loves salty stuffs. On another note, they do provide the Asian kind of chilli, some kind of sambal or grinded chill paste .. which isnt too bad, but lacked depth. I can taste the spicy kick from the chilli, but not much other flavours. This is South Africa after all, and I am already grateful for them to have that! Overall, this was an extremely satisfying Chinese meal, in a beautiful restaurant (just below The Grey, where I almost wanted to stay here). My verdict would be a very high 8.75/10. I will strongly recommend anyone craving for Chinese food to give this a try! (Fyi...just met a friend who told me the hotpot was so-so only. Am glad that it was sold out when I came here). My final words... this was my best egg fried rice in the...

A small Chinese restaurant, quite nicely decorated with many artistic elements, an open kitchen, and a beautiful bar area.
FOOD: The restaurant specializes in Chinese cuisine with some other Asian influences. The menu is divided into categories: appetizers, dumplings, rice/noodles, and hot dishes. Pictures make it easier to choose. We started with oysters — lightly baked oysters with glass noodles, an interesting and unusual combination, but the overall oyster flavor got lost. Next, we tried several types of dumplings: shumai with pork and shrimp — tasty, generously filled with thin dough, all in the best Chinese tradition. The crispy prawn wontons were a hit — perfect crunch, good filling, and a suitable sauce. However, the soup dumplings fell apart while eating; broth leaked from two dumplings, and the dough was loose, causing them to tear. The lemon and pepper lobster tail featured a small portion of lobster tails with corn and chili pepper. The lobster tails were well cooked but quite difficult to peel from the shell. It would have been better if they were pre-peeled.
SERVICE: The service was mediocre, to say the least. There was only one waiter in the dining area, and he was busy at another table, so we waited about 4 minutes to be seated. Overall, the service was basic — just bringing and clearing dishes.
VERDICT: Almost everything we tried was tasty. Overall, if you’re craving Asian-Chinese food, this place will suit you. Just don’t expect...
Read moreWOW! I know there's so many restaurants to try variety . But I'll be trying this until I've tried everything on the menu! The owners have put a lot of time, money and effort into this to please the senses all around.
From the sidewalk as I passed by and the alluring Golden Coi hanging caught my eye, I wasn't sure if it was an art gallery, a club, or a restaurant. As soon as you turn the corner, a sprawling indoor corner space with lots of decor and light unfolds. Very friendly hostess and servers! Food is amazing. The server Zen is top notch in every way! She recommended I might want to try 2 or 3 dishes because they aren't huge. But they were still plenty big for me.
Come open minded. It may be considered a little more pricey than many others, but it's authentic and worth it, but still reasonably priced.
Prawns were large, you have to peel, and I was not expecting served as a cold dish. But they were fantastic! The wasabi sauce I ended up trying to keep and Zen graciously offered me a spoon just as the last guest had done 🤪
The Peking duck threw me off. I expected grilled sizeable portion of just duck. What arrived was only 6 pieces, but pleasantly surprised to find it accompanied by a beautiful tray of things in which to make little duck filled pockets.
The beef broth soup with carpaccio, mushrooms and noodles was a very large portion. Came in a very cute burner candle setup. I had to take it home.
Even the utensils and decor are unique and JUST...
