I'm actually very disappointed. The food and vibe here are so good; however, charging R29 for what appeared to be 20 grams of mayonnaise is unreasonable. When I asked for Mayo, I was informed that there would be an additional charge, but no one mentioned that it would cost R29. Perhaps better communication would be beneficial. Also, it's best not to argue with your sober customers and inform six people that they drank four beers when it's clear that they only had three. “Two of the beers were ordered at a different time, so the record must be accurate” was the excuse. Let's not play games here. We're not foolish. This type of behavior is truly distasteful. We will watch our sport elsewhere from now on.
++ When I call to make a reservation I had to call three times. The person that answered the phone was not very communicative. I had to repeat myself so many time to the point of frustration.
++ Reading the responses from some of the other bad reviews… it’s quite clear that if a customer receives bad service it’s not really dealt with.
Response:- Cool. Thanks for the response but I still had to pay for that beer and I left a small tip too, reluctantly.
What about the mayonnaise - do you know that a 375g of Hellman's Mayonnaise costs R30 at Makro?
What about the really sad excuse I got for the beers?
This should have been dealt with on-site and not on a...
Read moreI've had a lot of Sunday roasts, in a lot of countries, and this was by far the best I've ever had. There were no options, it's a mixed roast of beef, pork and chicken which suited me just fine.
Each meat has a different flavour, the Yorkshire pudding was delicious and just the right size - some places have massive yorkies to fill you up, and the veggies were top notch.
The pork crackling - OMG, the pork crackling!!!!
The other food we saw coming out looked equally delicious - especially the enormous square hamburgers
The staff (called waitrons in South Africa) were super efficient and friendly.
The restaurant was full when we went and I'm not surprised as it has a lot going for it.
My only criticism is that people were smoking in the 'outside' part of the restaurant which was basically part of the 'inside' section.
But don't let that put you off, it's still an amazing restaurant and well worth a visit - especially on a Sunday...
Read moreMy main praise for this establishment is it’s service. We attended the Quiz night and were pleasantly surprised at how quick the service was with drinks arriving fast and attentiveness from the waiters. The Quiz was a bit drawn out, but we had a blast. My criticism is that the prices are unpleasantly high for food, and the drinks aren’t cheap either. Four drinks and a pizza (plus the R20 Quiz fee) and you’re looking at an expensive evening out (+R400 for one person) which is unexpected for a pub environment. It would be nice to see some drinks specials to make it more affordable for locals. There was also an error on our bill, saying that there were 10 people involved in the Quiz instead of 9 and when I told our waitress she argued with me as though I was lying🙄. However, it was sorted at the end and it didn’t ruin our night. Will maybe return for a Quiz night and eat...
