We were a group of 9 one had booked on Saturday 25/1/20 to dine at 8pm on Sunday evening 26/1/20 at 8pm.
7 of the group are on holiday from the UK golfing with two SA residents.
The venue had been recommended to us .
The venue layout and furnishings were very good.
The Menu looked excellent and we were requested to order starters and then the main course after we had finished the starters.
We ordered drinks from the bar and then wine from the wine list to accompany our main meals.
This is when the dining experience took a downward turn.
There was only one bottle of the Beyerskloof Pinotage available which was disappointing given the region we were dining and very poor stock control, given that this is generally a very popular wine.
Four of the group ordered Avocado and Prawn cocktail, the avocado itself was ok however it was accompanied by a single medium sized prawn that had been sliced in half ? and the sauce was debatable.
The main courses in general were very good with some steaks excellent.
At the conclusion of the main course we selected our desert course, and a short time after ordering we were informed that the deserts were not available as the kitchen had closed.
The time was 10.05pm, the kitchen was open plan and close to where we were seated, and had at least three staff in it.
At no stage during the evening were we informed that there was any time limit period on our dining, and failure to provide a complete service is unacceptable.
When the cost of the meal was presented it contained a 10% service charge, and when questioned as to the charge our waitress Chane stated that there was a service charge for parties of 8 persons or over. After pointing out that the menu stated the service charge was for parties of 10 or more we were asked if we required an amended cost which I found to be outrageous, together with a less than friendly change in attitude from the waitress.
In conclusion if you want a good steak, a good beer at a reasonable price great, anything else forget it.
Hence this review and 2 stars are generous.
Now back in the UK but just could not this poor experience go in fairness to other...

We were a family of 4 on the front porch last eve (Sunday eve 21/02/2016). My children had travelled from Table view to have dinner with me in Paarl as I live here.
We all ordered steaks and it was very disappointing as my younger daughter’s steak was rather bloody even though the flag said Medium/ Well – it was definitely not medium /well.
No-one came to check if our steaks were in order and the waitress only came to check just as I was almost finished my meal. My daughter had ordered a salad instead of chips and this was not brought to her – she had to ask the griller to bring it. She had to eat alone as we had all finished our meal.
The waitress was not very friendly and we hardly heard or saw her.
It was a lovely evening and hopefully my children might want to visit this...
Read moreTop notch service from Cinitell! We did not make mention at all that we were celebrating a special occasion, yet she made us feel like VIPs in any case. Such a very presentable, eloquent and profficient server. Attentive without being overbearing. On point. Cross sells so subcinscioisly succesfully, we spent R400 more than initially planned! 🤭 Wil ask for her by name with the next reservation. This employee is a tremendous asset to your staff compliment and represents the Cattle Baron brand with grace and poise.
The complimentary soup/bread/braised offcut meats pre-starter was also a lovely surprise to all patrons this evening. Food, as always, did not dissapoint. It was a cold evening (4° C outside) but the lit fireplaces and regulated in-house temperature made for a great atmosphere.
Clean, neat, welcoming.
This branch is a well-organised, healthy, tight run ship. Goeie werk Franco!
5 well...
