UPDATE: Mugg & Bean Paarl Mall is still as disappointing as ever! After giving them another chance after two years, I was truly let down. I was in the area and decided to sit down and work on my computer while waiting for my daughters to finish shopping. After asking for the Wi-Fi password three times over 20 minutes, I decided to cancel my cappuccino order and I wrote this review at Vida Caffe. We were planning to have brunch here after they're done. HONESTLY PATHETIC!
I'm absolutely appalled by the level service (or lack thereof) at Mugg and Bean Paarl Mall. Zero customer service and exceptionally unprofessional staff. I ordered a side of chips...I ate 7 or so chips, but it tasted awful, extremely artificial tasting and most of it was still raw inside. I politely complained and said I no longer want it... I got no reaction from 2 staff members. I got no apology from either of them. I asked for the bill and they asked me if everything was okay, I said yes, just the chips was a disappointment. They brought the bill and STILL CHARGED me for the chips. Read moreI am a supporter of Mugg&Bean. However sadly I must give poor review. My Eggs Benedict and wife's also was not great. Saturday 24 February. Either Chef is not up to standard or Management and Franchise has lost it! Plates were not pre-heated as we know it. Food was cold. 2. "Hollandaise or Bearnaise" was cold like mayonaise from the fridge, not a great product at all. Think they have changed suppliers or recipes, really not nice. 3. We asked for rye bread rather than English muffin, slightly toasted - it was like rubber really tuff to cut or eat. Think it was not a toast(crispy) but maybe in a warming oven for too long. 4. The manager took mine to heat it and I asked it back after my wife had finished her food. It was still cold and ...I ate the egg and had to leave the bread and what remained of the "sauce". In general experience not to be repeated and I note the house brand and the mocca coffee on offer was the same coffee. So they should rebrand and remove the Arabic, Mexican, Kenia etc branding from their walls, if their serving is one kind of house brand coffee. Read moreExtremely disappointed. I ordered the classic eggs Benedict and our food arrived in batches 15 minutes apart per plat. My plate arrived after everyone was done. I could clearly see they rushed to redo the plate as I ordered my hollandaise on the side.
The plate looked sad to say the least. I should've taken a photo but I thought to give the manager a chance to fix the problem.
I ordered medium poched eggs and 50% of the eggs were raw and just inedible. The sauce seemed like it stood under the hotpass for way too long and the 2 tiny strips of bacon was just sad for the price.
I usually don't leave negative reviews but in this case I kept the plate to show to the manager and she probably never even checked.
I asked her about the situation and she said she'll ask the kitchen and come back to me... She never did.
I think in the hospitality industry it's completely unacceptable to serve food in that state and not return to a client is just 0/5.
On the plus side the waitress Pearl was a gem and if it wasn't for her I would be rating everything 1/5.
Please use this to take note and make the necessary changes for your attention to customers in your shop...
