Baobab Café & Grill Wonderboom Junction — Restaurant in Gauteng

Can you give a place zero stars?? HORRIBLE service!! And that on mothersday too 😔 so sad. We took our mother for what we thought would be a lovely mothersday brunch..complete opposite. We sat down just before 11am (to annoyingly loud music bursting on a Sunday), saw the waiter once and ordered coffee..didn't see him again until after 12. We continuously had to call other waiters around us and ask for assistance. Once we ordered starters from our actual waiter we waited about 40min..slow but we wrote that off to the restaurant being a little bussier than usual. Never saw our waiter again...had to call other waiters around us still. We finally got to ordering mains only around 14h20!! We waited..and waited..AND waited. No one came to give us an update on how long the food will take or even once asked us if everything is still okay..no one..after another an hour of waiting we called a waiter over to ask if they could please go see what is going on..he said the food will be ready soon..another 30min later we asked another waiter to call the manager because we have been waiting over an hour!! He then said sorry and left..after another 20min we finally got our food..just to have all the sauces mixed up and most of the food over done and dry (ordered steaks and fish). The manager eventually asked if they could offer us a free drink or dessert..as if we were wanting to wait ANOTHER hour for that?? We were all already in such a bad mood by that time, we were more happy to shove that dessert where the sun doesn't shine. We then urged my mother to take a slice of cheesecake home since we weren't going to stick around for dessert..and we left around 16h00..very irritated and let down. Will never go back again and 100% NOT recommend...

Worst experience ever!! Will never return!! Will tell everyone about this horrendous experience! Very unprofessional service, snail slow service. Waitress _(naam) should rather not be a waitress. Got our drinks 1 hour after we ordered it upon arrival. Ordered food, food was not served all together. By the time everyone got some portions of their mixed up food orders, the first served persons' food was already cold. Ordered a wine with my food, only got the wine when my food was already finished. Ordered crumbed mushrooms, it only made its way to our table as we were ready to pay and leave. Asked for a manager, a person came to light with no name tag and did not even introduce himself, after speaking to him and explaining what the issues were another person came over and introduced himself as the general manager. So we are a tad bit confused as to who the first bloke was?! All our food orders came to the table mixed up. Vegetables were transferred from one plate to another plate by the waitress infront of us while she was stretching over us to scrape the veggies from my plate onto another member of our party's plate. This really ruined my family outing. I hardly see my family due to distance, then my only evening I had with them, trying to make it special, got ruined by sloppy, unprofessional, poor service. Staff is majorly lacking self pride!! Unfortunately I will necer reccommend this restaurant to anyone. As they say....you never get a second chance to make a first impression. No facilities for babies. Had to use the complex bathroom that was flooded, we had to change the 2 and half week old baby on the ground what a bad why treat a babg in...

On the 28th of Nov 2024, a company I work for hosted a year end function at Baobab wonderboom and the service was absolutely disgusting. They were not prepared to host a large group of people and the waiters service was a 0/10. I ordered a drink and it came 1 hour later and to top it all off I never got my main coarse because the waitress claimed to have given me and a few other colleagues food when we waited so long to eat only to be told “but this table already received their food” why would we lie at our own year end function. The manager came to ask us and she brought no solution to the situation, we had to get our managers involved. The restaurant was disorganized and I would never set foot again, I will definitely be advising our company to never use Baobab again because they ruined what was supposed to be a good year end function. Poor service and disorganized!!! Oh we got our food as a take away 3 hours later since we arrived! Worst restaurant I’ve ever...
