Sadly, I now understand one of the contributing factors of OB franchises closing; deterioration of quality. The atmosphere was good and the staff were friendly. I do not feel that protocols of social distancing have been placed here. Spacing between customers are inadequate. Also, there was no soap in all the ladies toilet facilities. Starters ordered were the following: Oysters: Can’t complain here, basically tasted like it was from the sea and went straight into my plate, beautiful! Mussel soup: Tasted like chicken soup with canned mussels, I found that to be quite sad. Salmon sashimi: The first order had to be sent away, the menu didn’t state that spices and sesame seeds would be added to this dish. I honestly haven’t seen any restuarant do this to such a beautiful piece of meat. Once that gunk was off, I had my sashimi. Tasted great but you’d swear it was meant to be sliced like a carpaccio, it was extremely small for the price placed. I’d suggest ordering a dish like this at either Parrots restaurant or Kung fu kitchen, at least you would get value for your money and the actual dish that was ordered. Mains were the following: Platter for one: Grilled. Everything was there but you had to go swimming in the sauce to find your meal. Rice was undercooked and the sauce tasted like a heavy hand of lemon mixed with margarine, one would say that it’s unappetising. 8 Queen prawns: Tasted good but some of the prawns were overcooked and because of that I found it very difficult to peel my meat off of the shell. Rice also undercooked. Top up calamari heads fried: Tasted very nice though the portion and the price was not worth it. It was also swimming in that margarine disaster of a sauce. Based on this experience, I will not go back to this OB or any other, nor would I recommend it to anyone else. I feel there are other restaurants who don’t specialise in seafood that will definitely give OB a run for it’s money.

Today's update, the most recent experience Now this is what Ocean Basket wonderboom is capable of!!! They've have exceeded my expectations, and corrected what was a bad experience and turned it into an exceptional onešŸ”„šŸ”„, the food this time was cooked to perfection, great taste, nice texture, the fish was proper, the prawn were proper The manager Stephen, was very kind and very friendly, he acknowledged. His service to customers in top notch, a very good manager. We went to this Ocean Basket tonight. Never again! Firstly the service was slow and pathetic. I had to wave at the waitress while she was on her phone. The other waiters could not be reached as they were standing at the entrance chatting and not giving any attention to patrons. One moved passed me and I tried to flag him down, to no avail. The table was rarely cleared and when requesting the bill was still full of crockery. The waitress asked once whether we are ok after that never again. My daughter's milkshakes were sour but they did not recognise it immediately. So we did not complain. My 1 daughter ordered chickpeas and feta. The chickpeas were off/old, they smelt. The waitress even said that they smelt off! I called the manager who apologised and said that the owner cannot be contacted. He only new the owner by name of Ben....no surname! Eventually the manager gave us 5 free prawns and did not charge for the chick peas. This may be seen as a good trade but our entire evening was spoiled.

I’ve been married to my hubby for 3 years together for 4 and today was the first time ever he sent a plate of food away. He eats everything and anything. He ordered the new crusted kingklip on the menu. When it arrived it looked a bit weird, he took a bite and said something was off. Where hake is usually white and folks, and a hake is usually thicker than piece of hake for example. His fish was grey and wet and soggy for the lack of another explanation. His travelling to Paris tomorrow and getting -raw fish- food poisoning would be great timing … not! The water was amazing she came and took the food back to the kitchen and eventually brought another one, tasting and looking like it should.

The sad part about our experience is the fact that the manager x 2 on duty, did not one come to the table. They didn’t express their thoughts about what could have happened or a simple apology sir for the raw of fish we just served you. There’s a fine line in customer service. When you mess up man up and do what I’m sure your JD explains or common customer service skills. We’ve left the restaurant with my husbands food in a take away, and no contact with anyone in the restaurant. The waitress could see the clear difference in the new food and old food, thank you to her. Super disappointed in the management team. At least we know why we got off fish now, as the management is non existent that needs to Check food quality!

I just thought id let everyone know that 3 weeks later and still no word from anyone after doing what they asked i should,, VROT FISH and all. Shame that this branch does not realize how they impacting the others by their poor service and...

What an absolute nightmare, this is my second visit at this Ocean basket (after giving it the benefit of the doubt) but the experience was worse than before. We ordered a Full decker and sushi for take away which took years to be prepared only for our order to arrive half burnt. We ofcause noticed this when we got home and only ate what we could. It seems as though the service is selective amongst white and black people, with blacks receiving the bare minimum. I am absolutely disappointed in the 2 managers, Ethen and the other one with dark hair who refused to speak to us when we complained about our order taking long. This was my worst experience in my history of ordering Ocean basket especially after having to spend a substantial amount of money. You guys should really train your staff, especially your manager's to treat all people equally, black people are the majority that dine at your restaurant, stop treating us like trash.

We received a call from Head office to get a complimentary voucher about a week ago and we're still waiting.. lol seems like both head office and the branch are good at poor...
