This is the only place where I truly love the coffee - and can drink it with no sugar and not miss it. The flavour of the coffee is fabulous, smooth and rich without the bitter, burnt edge that most other coffee bean roasters/brands have. You can also try their tasting menu to experience the difference between brewing techniques and apparatuses, and purchase gifts and apparatuses in store too. A slice of cake or a brownie on the side is also available, but don't expect lunch - they focus on making their coffee excellent, they're not diverted by food preparations. The atmosphere is conducive to both coffee with a friend on a couch or business at a single table on the main floor or at a large meeting table in a separate room. Or you can grab a take-away (or few) - my colleagues and I have a regular 'coffee club' going - no books required!

Fun Saturday coffee shop adventure. We love trying the local coffee roasteries in South Africa. Each one is unique. This location is very hip, lovely decor and a nice amount of seating. Staff is friendly. We did the coffee tasting which was a cute experience but the staff should consider sharing with guests the techniques as they are made, the origin and toast of the coffees used. We had to flag down someone and ask. With tastings one expects at least a card with an explanation of technique/ product of they don’t have time for a personal explanation.

Ive been going there weekly since they opened as they are the source of my favourite beans but they also pour a great cup while you wait for your bag to be filled amid the aroma of beans being freshly roasted daily on the premises. All their beans are from African countries, ask for their Fair Trade and Organic varieties. Did I forget mention their delicious cakes and cookies ? Last but not least the friendly, knowledgeable staff make this the best roastery in Johannesburg. Their Coffee 'cupping' days are worth every cent.

Nice space and good coffee. I ordered a cortado. It was good, but not warm enough. I thought, next time I must not forget to tell the barrister to make it extra hot. While I was drinking my coffee sitting next to a door leading to a terrace outside, a man that I presume was the owner walked past me and came in and out twice within a 15 minutes period banging the door loudly each time. He did not even grant me with a welcome word or even a "howzit". When I went to pay my bill, the barrister told me that it was 31R. I said that on the board it was 27R. He replied that he made it a double shot. I asked him if I had asked for a double shot, he said no but didn't apologise or offer a discount. I paid and left. There will be no next...

Thus has always been a very special place to me in so many ways. This company not only produce some ofbtte finest coffee in South Africa both in Bean form and in the cup! They just get it. They do business right. Their coffee is fair trade and if you chat to their staff you can hear some of the remarkable stories of how they are treated fairly.

The coffee is normally single origin cup of excellance sourced from Africa. When I go in I often ask the barista to surprise me ... and as a result often get some really special coffee experiences. They do chemicals, aeropress ordinary filters and all the normal espresso based drinks but opted with passion and skill where there is attention to detail.

Yep, as you can...
