Bennigan's Grillhouse & Bar Bedfordview — Restaurant in Gauteng

Party of four dined there last Saturday night. Overall a very, very satisfactory experience. My starter of snails came piping hot, cheesy and full of garlic, just hit the spot. Husband's crumbed mozzarella sticks with honey mustard dip somehow got mixed up with guest's fired Haloumi sticks with yogurt dip, so I got to taste both. Both vey tasty but if ordering again I would say the mozzarella was slightly nicer. I decided to have two starters to preserve room for sweets so had tuna ceviche with avocado, very, very tasty will definitely have this again. Was only going to have one bite of my share of the lamb shanks but it was so perfectly spiced and tender could not resist eating all of it. Thank you Bennigans for not using meat tenderiser on this which upsets my tummy every time. Tasted guest's calamari, was good and tender. Tasted guest's rooibos creme brulee very nice ! The house speciality brownie with caramel sauce was sinfully delightful but by then I was really quite full so relinquished most of this to husband who did not complain. Note to self definitely save enough room for pudding !! Good coffee with the sweets and good service and ambiance means we will definitely be back to this restaurant soon. P.S. Other guest declared his starter of buffalo wings...

Definately the last time i will be supporting this establishment. Terrible evening we had as a family. Service is absolutely shocking and the food disappointing. The restaurant was not busy at all but the service from our waiter was extremely slow. Asked continously for another drink... still waiting. We waited over 20 minutes for another drink after asking a few times and then we all got to the point were we asked for the bill. All our steaks were ice cold, we complained and no manager came to apologise. The waiter said he can get you another one after waiting 30 minutes to get his attention. We ended up putting it in a takeaway box with literally two bites out of it. My mother ordered calamari starter portion. It says on the menu that it comes with chips and lemon butter sauce. When she got it, it was served as calamari and salad. No lemon butter sauce, no chips, no salad dressing. We asked the waiter where are the chips etc. He replied its a misprint on the menu. It does not come with chips. After complaining the chips arrived but still no lemon butter sauce or salad dressing. We do not ever complain but for the amount of money you pay, you would expect a little...

17.03.2018 After attending a function nearby we wanted something light-ish to eat and coffee. We had heard Bennigans was situated nearby so decided to give it a try. They have been around for many years and still going strong.

Although the surrounding area is not so great, the restaurant itself is beautiful and there a parking lot. (so no parallel parking skills required) Clean and neat. Great decor. It is a little dark in certain areas but most steakhouses all seem to have that limited lighting issue.

They have a good selection of food and drinks and i feel they are reasonably priced.

We all ordered Cappuccinos - hot and tasted just right. As you know I'm a meat eater so we ordered the Baby back ribs to share and the Starter snails portion. The meat just fell off the bone. The fries were fried fresh as they stayed piping hot for a while. I think i needed a sauce for that to dunk them in as they were rather large.

Must mention our waiter Thabang was such a darling - great service from him with a smile.

Will definitely consider going back to try a few...
