Sad to have to write this negative review for a place I love so much. Today my boyfriend and I came for lunch, as we do often. We usually have a great experience but today was not the case. We were seated by the waiter at a 4 seater table, ordered and began enjoying our lunch…while we are eating a group of about 8 or so people walk into the restaurant looking for a table inside…even though they hadn’t booked.

While we are literally in the middle of eating our meal the waiter comes to us and asks us if we can please move to a smaller table, one that was in the walkway and definitely wouldn’t have been able to fit the 5 plates we had on our table. Literally while I have food in my mouth, we have a bunch of plates on the table as we were sharing different meals and now we must move?

My boyfriend and indicated that we were in the middle of enjoying our meal but just got blank stares from the waiter so we decided to rather just get the rest of our meal in a takeaway and eat it at home. On top of that we were basically rushed off the table, rushed to pay and everything. We still wanted to enjoy dessert and coffees after our meal.

I have never before been chased off a table mid-meal at any restaurant we have eaten at. I can understand if it was before we had even gotten our food or if it was after we had eaten and we’re just enjoying coffees, but mid-meal 😂 very odd practise and very...

We visited Soul Souvlaki in Bedfordview on a Monday evening, and even though it wasn’t very busy, the service was quick and the food came out fresh, hot, and packed with flavour.

We ordered the meat platter for two, and it did not disappoint. The falafels were easily the best I’ve had to date — perfectly crisp outside, soft and flavourful inside. The meat patties were the star of the show: juicy, well-seasoned, and incredibly tasty. The chicken was tender and beautifully grilled, while the lamb had a lovely lemony kick that balanced everything perfectly.

The hummus was another highlight — smooth, nicely textured, and well-spiced without being too dry or too runny. You can tell every element of the dish is made with care.

A small downside was that after we finished eating, our waitress didn’t come back to check on us, so we had to go up to the counter to pay. And while sitting outside, we did notice a mouse running around near the outdoor area. Given that the restaurant is situated behind a cluster of flats and commercial buildings, it’s somewhat understandable — but it’s definitely something that needs management’s attention.

Overall though, Soul Souvlaki Bedfordview delivered a fantastic meal with outstanding flavours. With a bit of attention to the small details, it could easily be a...

I had one AMAZING meal here and I craved it so much for the longest time and when I went back for it I just had the worst experience. My sister and I ordered the exact same thing but this time it was so unsatisfactory. Firstly, the entire meal was covered in mixed herb which really took away from all the really great individual flavors each item our plate had and obviously made everything taste like mixed herb which sucks. The lamb ribs were completely hard and crisped and very salty. Last time the meat was soft and the fat was crispy and delicious. The wedges were soaked in oil and had a powdery consistency on the inside perhaps because they were frozen or over done, I’m not sure. We didn’t even eat the wedges and it was disappointing because we still paid for them even after alerting the manager of what a poor experience we were having. We had the Saragli dessert which was definitely stale, the pastry was totally like dense and soft instead of crispy. Don’t think I’ll go here again just because I can’t risk being that disappointed and wasting money like that again but will still think of the one great meal I...

I recently went to this restaurant around the last week of November 2024. Service was terrible. I was served by a waitress who did not know the menu at all & did not want to be there. She had a terrible attitude towards her profession. Moreover, the food was burnt. I ordered lamb, fish, potato wedges & calamari, all of which were terribly burnt. The only thing that tasted good were the zucchini fritters with hummus. Terribly disappointed by this outing, as I heard good reviews about the food. Although to be fair, the reviews were about the souvlaki in Rosebank, so maybe they are just inconsistent across franchises. Paid R600 for my meal & left feeling robbed.

We decided to give this restaurant a try after never being able to find parking but on this long weekend, it was a little less busy. The restaurant is beautifully setup and it has a warm cozy feel to it. The courtyard is also lovely and breezy. The food arrived and we were surprised at how ample the portions so were. We tried a few items on the menu and they were all delicious. We thoroughly your meals!! The desserts were so yummy too. Our waitress Precious was not very friendly or attentive but we just took it in our stride. We will definitely return as the food was so good and we had a great evening!!!
