Ocean Basket Bedfordview — Restaurant in Gauteng

I took my family to Ocean Basket Bedford Village after seeing a TikTok advertising a R75 bottomless mimosa special. To avoid disappointment, we called ahead and checked with four different Ocean Basket branches. Three confirmed they didn’t have the special, but Bedford Village said they did. Based on that confirmation, we made the drive out.

Unfortunately, what awaited us was a complete letdown. We were met by an extremely rude and condescending employee who denied any knowledge of the special, despite us showing her the TikTok and reminding her of the phone call we made just one hour before — which she confirmed was the branches phone number.

Instead of checking with a manager or handling the situation professionally, she argued back and forth with us, dismissing our evidence and basically accusing us of making up the deal. No apology, no attempt to clarify or make it right. Just attitude and an eye roll as we walked out humiliated and deeply disappointed.

Ocean Basket, please train your staff on how to deal with customer queries and misunderstandings with basic courtesy and professionalism. We left without even eating because of how poorly we...

As far as Ocean Baskets go, I can't say this is my favorite venue. Although the food is always decent and the view of johburg from the balcony is very nice, it's never fantastic and I feel as though they have definitely watered down my wine on several occasions. However, all of this could have been overlooked if not for this one ultimate issue: the last time I attended the venue they seemed to play Enrique Iglesias's "Hero" back to back about 4 times. When this was finally over they proceeded to play the Spanish version of the same song. Also, every time I have attended the venue they have played "Hero", which isn't a great song anyway. 09/08 Stopped in for a quick dinner, and since we only saw around 6 other tables occupied we didnt expect what was coming, we ordered our meal along with our drinks order on arrival as we knew we only had an hour until we needed to fetch our daughter from training nearby, we waited 45 minutes until we sought out the non engaged manager and asked they please cancel our order if the kitchen hadn't started preparing our food, the response was "oh".
