Bismillah Restaurant-Ormonde — Restaurant in Gauteng

The restaurant is OK, it is situated right in the corner of the Ormonde Shopping centre between a pub/club and a Sushi spot. The service is a bit dismal, often quoting pickup times of 20 minutes but making you wait for 45 minutes or more....so rather play safe and be late to pick up the order. Atmosphere....I don't know, been there about 3 times and the place was literally empty on a Saturday night....usually a red flag for me, but put it down to people not going out much anymore and rather opting for take away. Now, given the wait, one would expect quite a delicious offering awaits.....sadly the food was total disappointment, not the flavors you have come to expect from the Mayfair/Forsburg lot. Tough Chicken Tikka, with a bland taste. Butter Chicken? Well, I guess their rendition of a Butter chicken is a bright yellow flavourless concoction that leaves you wondering what it really is that you ordered. Visited bismillah today as we normally do, but food and experience wasn't good at all. Mutton bunny - the bread was removed less than halfway down the quarter loaf, which left me eating dry bread after 2 pieces of meat and a tablespoon of gravy.

Mutton biryani - literally 2 prices of meat only. Was a total waste of money. Lacked flavour. Absolutely terrible.

We ordered 2 jugs of falooda. At R280, it was day light robbery. When enquired why it was white and not pink and why it lacked taste. Was told that they didn't have enough ingredients... Indian cuisine is one of my ultimate favourite, but this restaurant completely spoilt my experience. I've had Indian across the country, so I pretty much know a good Indian cuisine spot. I ordered their butter chicken and garlic naan...what a freaken big mistake! Horrendous to say the least! It was pale yellow, with white particles like fried egg white or something. Tasted NOTHING like your traditional butter chicken. I cried for the money I wasted. My family didn't even continue eating after their first taste. First and last time...
