Dros Alberton (New Redruth) — Restaurant in Gauteng

Yesterday was most certainly our last time ever that we would support Dros Alberton. We were a party of 6 adults 1 child.

We ordered 2 foccacia's after a long wait it arrived at our table ice cold and rock hard. We were very hungry so we ate the 1 other 1 was sent back. The same 1 was returned to our table burnt and even harder than the previous 1. Called the manager he said he could see it was burnt.

The pork chops were as small as pork rashers totally mislead by the menu. We complained about that and were told that the size/weight of the chops were indicated on the menu which wasn't!

My hake was so thin you could almost see right through it. It comes with chips and rice, I only received chips that looked so unappetizing so I sent it back requesting rice. The rice was tasty. The chips are fried with the skin, not on! Don't know if it states potato skin fries but that's what we got. Nobody ate their chips.

My daughter ordered a mushroom steak asked for medium it arrived very rare sent it back and when it was returned it wasn't any better. Considering that we were also at the Dros with friends on Friday night and spent R1800 for party of 4, looking forward to being entertained by Beeskraal that was really bad entertainment. They were approximately an hour late. Nevertheless onus on them they took more breaks than what they actually sang. The food was actually very good except for a salt pot that wasn't working properly and I ended up with en entire pot of salt on my jacket potato but that was quickly rectified by my potato being replaced. Dros Alberton your ribs are the best but overpriced sadly.

The reason why we went there again on Saturday was because of the indoor playground for my grandson. Which had never been upgraded since Dros opened. Such a pity as there aren't any restaurants in the area with this facility. My grandson loved his Margareta pizza it was hot and had loads of cheese. Best meal of the day.

There is a very bad sewerage smell in the restaurant which isn't new to Dros.

We have been regular supporters of Dros but yesterday was the worst and after spending R3000 yesterday. DROS will never see us again.

Martin hopefully you will see this as constructive criticism and try and rectify.

I will NEVER order a meal from DROSS New Redruth EVER again. Not only is their 'management' especially JP rude their food are really under par:

Last night 11/07/2023 on my birthday we decided to order take away from the Dross as it was a cold evening, my daughter and myself ordered the FULL portion of chicken schnitzel and baked potato - we received a baby potato and kiddies portion of schnitzel with chicken bones in, batter not crispy and bleak....

When I phoned them after my meal, because we got sick I told JP, I am not phoning to get a free meal or a refund, I just want to know arent Dros embarrassed to send food out like that, he asked if a took a photo which I told him no, explained what was wrong with the food and he took my my number, explaining he will investigate and phone me back.

He never phoned me back, I had to phone the Dros again to find out what was his finding, he admits the potato's in the kitchen was small, BUT the very small thin chicken schnitzels that is a kiddie size is pre-ordered so what the supplier supplies that is their portion sizes although the price don't decrease and you still charged for an adult portion.

He then tells me, he only has my WORD for the bad food as I never took a photo, although I am correct about the potato size etc. So why would I lie, I dont want a freebie nor refund I just wanted an apology from the Dros for bad food! No apology, just an attitude of ýou dont have a pic and I must take your word'

Well Dros, my family will never eat at Dros again, thought the Bottomless Chicken Wings was a bad experience,...

Absolutely pathetic service !! We have been to the Dros Alberton a few times and never was it this bad ! We got there at 18:00pm ,ordered drinks then had to wait 45min for our waiter to come back to take our meal order thereafter the waiter told us about the pizza special 2 pizzas for R160 we then ordered that along with some other dishes , the food then took another 40 min to arrive , only then did we find out the waiter was a trainee , towards the end we asked the trainee waiter for take away boxes as we were done with our meals she then bought the boxes and we were ready to pay the billl, a few minutes later she tells us we can not take the pizza as a takeaway because it is a special, which she did not mention to us upon us ordering the pizza in the event that she did tell us the rest of the family wouldn't have ordered individual meals. My brother then went to go confront the manager that we were unaware about this as the waiter did not mention it to us, the Manger then said unfortunately there's nothing he can do about it , it the rules and the special is meant for customers to spend more time at the restaurant, let us bare in mind the waiter did not tell us she was a trainee , and the mangers did not train their staff appropriately.
