Usually we enjoy Hennies as a family but today i was so disgusted by this Hennies! You are not just a pub or bar, you are a restaurant where families of ALL ages would like to enjoy a good time and meal. Your kiddies so called “play area” is disgusting! Your place is dirty! I was so put off by this that I struggled to even eat my food, which at least was good. I cannot believe you actually call it a play area because theres not much to do but with whats there everything was dirty i did not want my child to touch anything there. Oh and then i get given a baby eating chair that was just as dirty and disgusting when i wiped it with wet wipes my wet wipe was brown, green and black 🤢🤢 Some pictures if you don’t believe me!!! They don’t even justify the dirt actually there as seen in person!

Visited Hennie's tonight. Friendly staff at the entrance - our waitress Beverley explained the rules to us ... especially the 'drink with your left hand' one. We ordered the Tuesday special - Chicken schnitzel with veg (pumpkin and cream spinach) and pepper sauce. It was delicious!!!!! Loved the veg, loved the schnitzel. Also ordered the Chicken Livers (Hot). Woohoo - they were amazing!!!!! That sauce was divine!!!!! Livers tender - yum. Loooove the 'bietjie blaf' spice on the table - as soon as they receive stock, we'll buy some. Beer was cold, cappuccino was great. A nice vibe, great food and fab staff.

Came out for my birthday cause we've been dying to try this place out. For starters, we had chicken livers hot, chicken wings with chips, for mains we had pap and wors with sheba, chicken schnitzel served with mash and a sauce and a Hennies Pizza. All the food was great, not a fan of the wings, they needed garlic. The schnitzel was cooked to perfection, succulent. The mash was the highlight of my meal, very creamy and I like it a bit rough, ok that doesn't sound right. Our bill including drinks was R729 for 4 of us.

We went to Hennies Randburg to watch the rugby and celebrate my cousin’s birthday. We made an entry in their “burn the bill” competition. After the game, they called up the “burn the bill” winners, a small table of four people, and announced that they had won the competition with just 1 point off the final score. We were confused about why they had won and we didn’t, as our guess was also just 1 point off. We asked the manager about this and he was immediately aggressive and defensive. He was adamant that he had all the forms that were filled in, and our table was not there. We said that there had to be another form with our table on it because we had definitely filled it in. He accused us of lying. The floor manager and our waitress confirmed that they definitely remembered us filling in the form and had no idea why it wasn’t there. After the floor manager spoke to the general manager, the general manager told us that we would be getting R600 of our bill and “that’s the end of it”. Not one apology for accusing us of lying, and they still spoke to us as if we were criminals. We accepted this “win” anyway, as the night had been ruined and we did not care about the money, just about how badly we’d been treated.

After all the drama, the tables around us started to ask what had happened. As soon as other tables started noticing, my cousin was called up to the stage and it was announced that he had also won and they then burnt his bill. They told the whole restaurant that his bill would be burnt and covered, and everyone celebrated for him. We were relieved that everything had been sorted and that my cousin got the win he deserved on his birthday. We then tipped our lovely waitress 10% of the original bill and about half of the group left. When only my cousin and a few of his friends were left, they decided to leave. They thanked the waitress and she thanked them and said goodbye. Before they got out the front door, the waitress ran back to them in tears, apologising profusely and saying they had to pay their bill. It appeared the general manager had shouted at our waitress for letting them go “without paying their bill”. Little did we know, that before they “burnt our bill” for show, they made a copy of it to make us pay later when no one was paying attention anymore. They only took off the R600 that they originally mentioned. My cousin was so upset at this point, and the managers and bouncers were being so aggressive, that he just paid and left.

I have never been treated so disgustingly at a place that is supposed to be enjoyable. We didn’t force them to create the competition or make promises they couldn’t keep. All we did was enter a competition at a restaurant and get the winning numbers. I guess our “lucky” win wasn’t so lucky after all.

For the positives, our waitress was wonderful and the floor manager tried to help us as best he could. The vibe in the restaurant was amazing and the other customers were awesome.

On a side note, when we called to book a table during the week, we were told that Hennies does not take table reservations on a Saturday. However, when we got there, a few tables had been reserved. The people who originally won the “burn the bill” competition happened to also be people who were somehow able to get a table reservation when no one else could.

I hate to say anything bad about a business, as I know how difficult the industry is. But I will never be supporting this Hennies branch again, and I’m hoping that anyone who reads this thinks twice before going there. The managers are corrupt bullies, and with the way they treated us should never be allowed to work in customer service again. I hesitated even posting this because of how intimidating...

This place was a bad breakfast dissapointment to me as the service was very slow and a cold breakfast with tiny portions and burnt toast eventually came out after 40 minutes wait the serving staff tell us to drink with our left hands or get penalised with having to down our drinks which i think is inappropriate at a restaurant setting and demeans the customers and our intelligenge and i have never experienced this in a restaurant in eating out in numerous countries they also put on a compulsory 10 percent service fee on the bill again demeaning the customers most of whom including me will do so anyway without being forced to like everywhere else i go to i think they must rather concentrate on on their service and portion sizes and food quality otherwise than treating customers like their children or they risk going the way of the dinosaurs and i personally will rather take my business to most other restaurants that respect their customers and our maturity and our needs and not just theirs and are also a lot...
