I was meeting up with a friend at La Parada to celebrate my birthday for lunch. While I waited, I ordered a mimosa. The waitress first had to ask me whether the person I'm having lunch with was a woman or a guy? #Confused. I asked her how this was relevant, and she could not answer me. She started explaining the price of the mimosa and made it seem like as a woman I could not afford 'per glass' drinks, and made suggestions on how I should order. It was very undermining and condescending because she went to the lengths to ask me how long will I be staying just to suss out my affordability. I did not appreciate it. Throughout the service, she was challenging us on how my friend should not have a medium lamb rump and correcting him that this is not beef. Not polite at all. When my friend made a complaint that the lamb had too much fat and basically felt 'robbed', she had an ugly rebuttal "well that's how lamb is in case you didn't know." The last straw was when the bill came. She asked, "Were you not happy with my service? You guys can at least make it 10%". Demanding attitude.

Read moreI recently visited La Parada Kyalami for the first time, having had great experiences at other La Parada locations. Unfortunately, this visit was extremely disappointing.
The only highlight of the night was the music. A young DJ named Lungi, whose name I asked because of how talented he was, played an exceptional set. His music selection and energy created an amazing vibe, and I truly appreciated his performance.
However, the restaurant service was terrible. We waited over an hour for a pizza, and in the meantime, we had to go to the bar ourselves just to get our drinks. When I confronted our waiter about the delay, instead of resolving the issue, he simply gave me excuses and complained about having too much work. The management was nowhere to be seen, making it clear that there was no leadership ensuring the staff did their jobs properly.
Compared to other La Parada branches, this one was a huge letdown. The service was simply unacceptable, and unless something changes, I wouldn’t recommend this location. If not for DJ Lungi’s fantastic music, the experience would have been a...
Read moreWhen La Parada opened at Kyalami Corner we were happy that another fine restaurant will be available in the area. Having been there twice already, we are not impressed at all. The first time it had just opened and we were there for lunch. The major issue was service.
With the second visit the major issue was good quality. We had to return one of the dishes and while doing so, someone from another table did the same thing. The manager came to our table to apologize and confirm that the dish was not well done and it tasteless. They promised that we won't pay for it but we ended up paying for it still.
The service was still lacking during the second visit. It is like the staff are drunk or high and wanting to be part of the party. On Friday nights it gets very loud. So avoid if you are looking for a quiet place to connect. Go only for...
