Ocean Basket Kyalami Corner — Restaurant in Gauteng

Well, this was a miserable experience today. On Friday 3/9/2021 we wanted to have lunch at Ocean Basket, only to be told that they do not have stock of prawns, calamari, etc. We took it in stride and decided to go on Sunday 5/9. According to Google and Google Maps, the restaurant was supposed to open at 11.00. At 11.15 a waiter finally took our order. We were the only customers there, so they were not busy....but it took 15 minutes more to finally get our coffee and tea, because the manager had to go to Checkers to buy tea bags. That was ridiculous. The table was wobbling, the waiter tried to fix it, but did not keep social distance in mind. The tea spilled in the saucer, because of the table, but no clean saucer was offered. I ordered black coffee and received a cup that was only half full. The tea came without milk, we had to remind the waiter that we need milk for the tea. We did not receive buns with our order. The manager said the buns were still in the oven.....that was now an hour after their opening time of 11.00. One prawn was under cooked. There were so many things wrong, I understand now why we were the only customers. The manager needs urgent training in running a restaurant. I do not think I'll go to Kyalami Corner Ocean...

Absolute garbage. Service, food and delivery. I don't just hand out 1-star ratings but this place made it easy.

Waiter interrupted us mid-conversation. Didn't bother to bring straws for mixing cordials. Food did not come at the same time. They completely forgot I ordered food so I cancelled it.

Quality of the food of my companions was not consistent and sad. Food is not freshly made, rice is somewhat uncooked. Found bone in the sushi. One of the meals was supposed to have a dipping sauce, they didn't bring it. And when asked about it, they didn't even know what sauce to bring.

Glasses were not washed properly, it had a fish smell and made the drinks taste fishy. Found bone in the sushi. Given just one set of chopsticks and soy sauce bowl for a sharing platter.

Service was so slow and there were only two tables, including ourselves, being served. It took 20 minutes to just pay.

Where was the manager? Sitting in a corner on his phone staying out of it.

Highly recommend you steer clear...

The food was OK, sushi good but Mediterranean bowl was a bit below par. The music from Salsa is overwhelming and to load which spoils a nice relaxing evening at ocean basket. We enjoy OB but will think twice about returning to the Kyalami corner branch for the following reasons 1 Salsa loud music 2 after completing our meal there was no follow up from waitress,(for coffee or deserts) they were too busy socializing behind the counter. 3 when I eventually got their attention for bill (I had to get up and ask for it) the billed was delivered and the waitress resumed conference behind the counter. Once again I had to get up and approach the meeting to offer to pay. Ps we could have left without paying and I doubt anyone would have noticed. I must mention we were one of three tables and I think waitresses out numbered...
